A day shooting 25yd BR with the RAW HM1000 .20 BLUE BEAST

So I took the BLUE BEAST my RAW HM 1000 .20 field target rifle set up at 20ft lbs down to Sherwood Airgunners club near Steubenville Ohio for a afternoon.of shooting. I ended up shooting 6 cards with it and really was pleasantly surprised how well it shot. The card scores were as follows ... 250...250...246 (I must admit after shooting the first 2 cards 250 scores this.third card I got a little cocky and shot it rather quickly, should have been more diligent)...248 and 249 and another 250. Not to shabby. I then let a buddy shoot this.same.rifle and he shot his first 250 score with it and then followed with a 249..he never shot this rifle and shot that well with it. Not a bad day of 25yd BR shooting from a Field Target rifle.

i am confused about the scoring (my club score differently) card 1 targets 7,12 and 17 are X yet 22 isn’t but 23 is?

We use a .22 filler plug that expands the holes to .22....if I can see any of the line from the ten ring then it's not a X. 

There was a few that missed being a X by a very very thin margin. I scored them like I seen them and I margin toward not being a X. We just do this for fun and I like to judge a guns potential accuracy by these cards so it really doesn't mean anything to me...nothing official.

Great shooting! My TM1000 in .177 cal shoots very well in BR too. Great rifles.

Try scoring outwards using the .22 gauge, that will make it a bit more challenging!

Just like everyone scores air rifle Benchrest. I think he was saying that since 250s are so easy you could score outwards vice inwards??? Not sure who does that, maybe it’s a firearm thing?
Hopefully the sarcasm comes across in the above statement. I shoot 25M BR outdoors and have never shot a 250.

I didn't realize shooting a 250 card was so easy.....the guys I shoot with have only been shooting these cards for about a year and we look at a 250 card as a damn good shooting gun with only a few guys able to shoot a 250 card thus far. Percentage wise out of all the cards we have shot it would be a very low number.....màybe it's time to start counting how many X's I get on these 250 cards or would it be better to just count how many X's you get all together ??

Bench rest is definitely not easy, the difference between winning and loosing is measured in fractions of a millimetre. .177 is the most popular calibre at my club, for a couple reasons, firstly, with our restrictions on power, the faster flatter trajectory of the .177 is easier to be accurate with (not more accurate) secondly, we measure outwards, so the smaller calibre of the .177 gives a slight measuring advantage.

As far as I know folloing USARB rules to get an x, the entire x ring must be obliterated other than that the scoring in the directions above seems the same? USARB = ( United States Air Rifle Benchrest association) Correct me if I'm wrong? J.L.

Whitefox, you are 100% correct. Same as at the Worlds also. Don’t know of any, other than local rules, that score outwards or any other way. ???

This is straight stock the way it came from Martin. It was custom ordered a few years ago and 2 rifles with the same 40" overall length were ordeeed. One was in .177 and had a yellow/gray laminate BIG BELLY FTstock and this one was ordered with the blue/gray BIG BELLY FT stock in .20. The original owner sold this one off to me because he bought a Thomas and he kept the yellow stocked .177 but has since CUT the belly out of the stock making it more Sporter style. His stipulation with Martin was they had to be 40" and this is what Martin came.up with and I must say I REALLY love the length and configuration on this rifle. It is a HM 1000 without a safety so I can still use the.magazines if I wanted to.

That is Jeff Little and he made that bag rider himself. He did a nice job with it I'll tell you that. Jeff may be willing to make you one I'll PM you his cell #.
