A day in the big woods

So today I didn't have to work got up had my coffee watch the news like I always do and got a bug up my butt to get out and chase some squirrels I have 40 acres about an hour north of me so I figured I'd head up to the property 40 acres is surrounded by over 5,000 Acres of federal land you know a hunter's playground I packed lunch an grabbed my shooting stick an my backpack and hit the road I ended up taking over a 5-mile hike through the area I grew up hunting with my dad many of those spots we have some very special memories ended up with a limit of bushy tails and even teared up a couple times some days just sink in more than others ...today was one of those days!

 sometimes we forget what the big picture really is for me it's a day in the big woods!!

I can hear that. It's amazing what little things can trigger memories of our childhood. There are times when I am hunting big game that I remember my first hunt. Enjoy and have a great weekend.

Yes Dbone, you are right. A day spent in the woods hunting squirrels, just sitting, watching, listening........good for the soul. Clears a lot of clutter in ones mind. Thanks for sharing.

It was a nice day in the woods today. I hear ya about thinking about dad while in the woods. That’s where it all started for me. Now if this deer season gives me a break, I will be after the tree rats too.

I'm in the opposite boat I'm tagged out and I've been going stir crazy! Ya the old man is definitely the reason I'm in the woods he is still around but getting old its hard getting out in the woods and not having him join me because he can't get around like he use too!
