A Danes hunt for a larger caliber air rifle / permission to buy such a thing

So in the past days i have tried the hunter approach to getting a air rifler > 1.77 / 4.5 mm

The law here state there is 2 ways you can do that.

1: you can be a hunter with a hunting permit of course, in which case you just buy what rifle / caliber you like.
A "large " caliber rifle must of course be stored like any hunting weapon so a lockable rifle safe.
Additional you can get a hunting licence, this is generally dont by taking a evening class on the subject ( not idea how many weeks this is ) but you can actually take a crash course and get a hunting licence in 4 weeks, this if course will cost something VS evening classes which i think are free.

Anyway passing a 40 question written test ( need 36 correct ) and then a practical exam in weapon handling and discharge + range evaluation / safety, that is still a lot i feel to be able to procure a air rifle to shoot paper.

2; Via a membership of a sports shooting club.
I dont think this is possible CUZ with air at least they only shoot 4.5 mm and the traditional disciplines
Also i am not aware of a single such club that have the opportunity to shoot benchrest, and for sure not distances over 50 M, only if the club have handicap facilities would this be somewhat possible i assume.

So having depleted my options ( fast ) in the hunting department, i am left with the sports clubs, and these i have today contacted 4 of by E-mail.
So will be interesting to see what they say, but TBH i have my doubts that this is in any way possible, i suppose due to a set of HYPER strict and complicated rules, and maybe a bucket load of conservatism in the clubs,,,,, " anything new is dangerous and should be avoided, and we better not rock the boat "

If any Danish members know of a easier way ( legal of course ) well i am all ears,,,,, Dumbo sized ears.

Way back when I was in high school and a knife and gun club member the state wildlife office offered a hunter safety course ( probably don't anymore die to woke agendas and anti gun pressure)
Personally I think it was a good idea for young kids . Like you you study the book stuff , went to a range and shot shotgun then a rifle day , then took a written test ,and if you pass you got some wall paper that does hold weight.

Like I think in Colorado to hunt you need a hunter safety certificate of non resident for a example. And it was/ valid .

I do feel if more gun responsibility course's were offered to young folk and maybe refresher classes every few years would go a long way ... Make it free for 16 and under tax funded.

Sounds to me as if getting a hunting license is the better way with less restrictions other than the time factor to go to class.
The crash course could be justified as another cost of "airgunning".
Does a hunting license allow you to shoot outside in areas where it is permitted?
How large of a caliber are you getting or permitted?
What distance are you going to be shooting out to?

No your paying taxes that don't show you any reward or benefits / misappropriated / wasted/ stolen/ ect.

If your tax $ actually went to what is was for you'd be living in a utopia .

Like 500 billion to some foreign county but your kids school gets funding cuts

Or pay the Taliban reparations for kicking us out in shame + all that equipment but your bridges and roads fall apart ..

Pay big failing company bailout money that the big wogs pocket and run . , but ............

I completed a EU hunting course, just to get a shotgun ticket.
400 multi choice questions, home study, 2 practical assessments etc. in a foreign language.
Dedication played a part.

Guess what, I still prefer air rifles. Especially .177.

Going through the process I met some good people, that for me was worth the effort.

Life and choices.

I have tried the hunting angle, taking to the national ORG and the 1 of 2 places where PRS is shot ( Karup ) where they actuallu have a nice range and many 100 M long, but there it is Centerfire or go away.
Otherwise i am working on it, just got a E-mail RPLY from one of the local sports clubs, they can not help me only cater to 10-15 M.
3 more E-mails to get RPLY from, but do not for a moment think my hopes are up, i am afraid i will have to become a hunter if i want larger caliber.

This law on the matter at hand, really poor craftsmanship if you ask me,,,,, i would not hand a mess like that to people.
But of curse i have integrity, a concept unfamiliar to all politicians.

I am not quite sure on this, i thin that if you have a hunting permit, and the private land are large enough then you would be able to hunt / and so i assume soot on any private land, of course you can not have a highway right behind your targets ASO, common sense i would hope.
There is no such thing here as hunting on public land here, also i dont think there is very much public land, at least not unless it is slapped in all kinds of protection.

My plan was only to move 1 mm up to 5.5 mm / .22 which i think would be reasonable out to 200 M and really that far is also about what i would hope to be able to get a permission to shoot on another persons land.
Something i am of course ready to pay for, i an not asking for hand outs here.

Regarding shooting the 4.5 mm / .177 stuff, the law say you can do it in your back garden even if you live in the middle of a town ASO, but you must of course have a proper back stop and make sure your shots can not go all over the place.
Which i also think is more than reasonable, i am in no way interested in bothering other people, or be bothered by other people.
And i am for sure not interested in endangering anyone in any way by my activities, again like above or be engangered by other peoples activities.

When we shot under those in town / small garden circumstances in 2012 / 13 we illegally procured a moderator, to not bother people, those was later okayed for use but a permit are still needed.

Hehe Russia would probably love me, the fallen son of a prominent communist seeing the light and move to the land of the free and brave ( no the other land of the free and brave )

But i think the level of problems i have with the what i will call socialism in Denmark the omni present nanny state, Russia is probably not the place, though it is of course no longer the Soviet flavor,,, my dad actually have a Putin doll ( action man size ) on a rope hanging in his apartment, he also painted a few not flattering pictures with Putin.
So yeah the old guy do not like Russia of today.

Also i would not move to a place and insult them by not being able to speak the language, and while languages are fairly easy for me, really i am too old now to bother picking up a new one, so it will have to be a English speaking country i move to when / if the lotto gods take pity on me.
Fortunately 3 of those are sufficient far away from this place, to with a little work never hear ones native tounge again.

I just choose to shoot .177 @<12 , and have a barrel of fun shooting @ 100M and above, and where i live there are no restrictions except the shooting in town one. .

Okay just got a mail RPLY from a club, the are not dismissive of me using air for power.
Now i just have to figure out which of the clubs the mail is from, and find out where their range are CUZ the guy mailing me said he will be there tomorrow from 09:00 to 13:00

So very cool, something not negative to look into,,,,, very exited.

@beerthief i know i have good fun shooting my .177 rifles too, though FAC, but at range, at least with no splatter target it get hard to see where the pellet land if it is on the cardboard backing, well at least if it is not fairly white backing, and i can only imagine moving out past 100 M and upwards of 200 M that will get harder to see, and i would hate to have to buy those HUGE splatter targets though at least for clicking in the scope it might be needed.

I will of course prefer to keep aiming at very small things, but at 200 M i realize i can forget my 2" splatter targets, and it would also be OK if i should get some 5" ones to make sure most of my shots are still on the target and not the backing cardboard.

Mind you this exercise is still primarily for me to acquire a larger than .177 rifle to shoot with,,,,, of course also the shorter distances i will probably shoot more often than airgun " ELR"
Fighting / working with wind, still interesting and a challenge, but i do prefer maximum control over where my shots land, but this being Denmark the land of the wind, well no wind days you can not rely on having very many of.
so something a bit heavier i think will be good for a longer flight, so i would prefer to buy a little larger caliber rifle VS buying one that bight shoot 16 and 20 gr slugs better than my Maverick which i just can not get to shoot those as well as the 13 gr ones.

If only my Maverick was good with heavier slugs, well then i would for sure have to try shooting it longer before going to the extreme and acquire a larger caliber rifle to do the same.

It is also a additional cost, maybe not so much getting a larger caliber rifle, but then i would have to get a rifle safe too to store it in at home, and those here have a starting price of about 500 USD

200m with a 5.56, that'd be interesting, and IMHO one heck of a gun. I'd go for the hunter permit, perhaps you'll make some new friends and you can take them down the Rabbit Hole® with you.

I second the hunter permit option.

For me it opened doors and locations.

The local guys laugh at me and my air rifles, toys they mumble under their breath. I'm no threat to the big boys.😉

Most important though, they leave me alone, show me good practice areas, old quarry, deserted water filtration site etc. I'm free, no permits, no range fees, freedom.

I think a few things are even legal to hunt with airgun here now.

But this side of Putin setting the world on fire i am not going shooting little critters, pests i might well shoot, but i am not eating rat burgers like in the movie Demolition man

In the mid 90ties i fished A LOT, but i have not eaten a fish since the mid 80ties, and i only ate that fish CUZ it was smoked salmon and i was hammered from the tour on the local brewery and the 10 or so beers we could drink in 30 minutes during the history briefing.

We was at those tours every Tuesday and Thursday during summer, they knew us very well, and we was great ambassadors for the local brewery, actually other brand beer was extremely frowned upon by us.
stuff like Carlsberg and Tuborg ( made in Copenhagen ) well bringing that out, and you will be the target of ridicule for sure.

For us there was only Ceres beer.
