A coyote trying to get into my coon feeder

I'll give the yotes a pass unless I see them personally in the daytime, or if I see a pack of them >=3 at one time. Otherwise I think the yotes are doing me a favor by hopefully keeping the rat population in check.

Besides I don't want to have to dispose of a large corpse and only have a 0.25 so would have to go for a brain shot.

The webcams catch a yote about once a week.

Would a .357 with >200 fpe be enough to DRT with a shoulder/lung shot a high percentage of time? Probably not.

Other than chipmunks, most other varmints get a pass from me, including the groundhogs infesting my neighbor's porch that sometimes come into my yard and drive my dogs bananas ... unless they are sick/injured.

I've dropped a whistle pig and a possum in my backyard with my 9mm, because the possum was sick and the ground hog was crippled when my dogs got to it before I could.

If it tried harder it can get the cat food inside since they can bite through the plastic.

Coyotes are around here & at the dairy. I don't have issue with them either . There's no danger ( so far) to the animals at the dairy & the deer & groundhogs are more of a problem than the 'Yotes. Plenty of rabbits & few small game hunters here to take them , so the" Canine Control Group" has a pass at the dairy. Now the neighboring village between me & the mountain that loses their cats & pocket dogs to whatever ,,, they're on their own!!

Your .357 will take out a coyote, without knowing any more about your pcp i would keep it 100 yards or closer and never a head shot.

The yote came back again and chewed off about 1" of the spout. I found this hunter's video that said a non-head shot usually has them running up to 60 yard. Non-starter for me, don't want to search for it and never want it running off my property. So only brain shots would be tried. Therefore not much difference between a 60 fpe .25 and a 200 fpe .357. Once you crack the skull and lodge the pellet inside the brain any extra power will not make much difference.
Saves me the big $$$ buying a Mora.
