HW/Weihrauch A Chrome Plated HW25 ???? ***Pics added***

So, I went to the Carlisle airgun show this past weekend and I picked up some lovely stuff. One of the guns is an early HW25 that appears to be chrome plated. My 1st thought was that it was nickel plated, but there are a few spots where to plating is gone. The plating looks pretty thick and there's no evidence of any underplating. If I'm not mistaken, in order to plate nickel over steel, one needs a base plating of copper or similar. however, there is no evidence of any underplating that I can detect. It doesn't look like an aftermarket job. I'm inclined to believe that it was plated at the plant.
My question is; Has anyone heard of a nickel or chrome plated, early HW25? I haven't had a chance to run the ser#. Perhaps I can dig up some info if I start there.
Just hoping for some info from the gang. If anyone should have anything to offer on this topic, I'm all ears...

I could not make PA this year (maybe next year ?) Wonderful show and also enjoyed driving around the town , I remember talking to someone and heard this voice behind me and said I know that voice and turned around and their you were ! we talked for a short time and quickly went back to shopping for that next find .

If this is a custom aftermarket job , they did a lot of polishing work before chroming . beautiful gun

I haven't done any research yet. This is the 1st place I came for info. I'll run that number. I know that there's a website somewhere that list Weihrauch serial numbers and dates. I need to look for it. Maybe today if time allows.
