A cheap plumb-bob to keep hanging around

I use the plastic loops that hold soft drink bottles together. I cut it in half and push the pellet can in one of the end loops. I then put two holes in the bottom of can on the sides. Then I run a piece of 50 pound test fishing line ( because that's what I have ) through the holes to balance the can. When balanced, I crimp the two lines together. Then I measure the length needed and tie on a three ounce sinker. Make it so the sinker touches the grown. Then hang the top plastic loop on a tree limb. or what ever. I have found it helps take the wind out of the picture. I guess you could fill the can with sand if its blowing a gale. I really have too much time on my hands !! I would have taken a picture but it's two AM here.

Fair warning, if that string is anything like the one we used putting up the G - scale track foundation, it is not UV tolerant and will get weaker than snot in a year.

Personally i use a length of thin stainless chain, about the size if the chain you will see hold the weights in grandfather clocks, also if there are no wind, you dont really need a weight in the end.

I think the eyes in the chain are 10 mm

Speaking of chains, and straying a bit off topic. I hang a short length of chain from my swinging lightweight RF/pellet plates. The chain really minimizes the swinging by dampening the motion. And as a side benefit it provides a smaller challenge to hit the chain too.
I made the hanger portion from a short length of rectangular tubing. It was made to just drop on to a 2x 4 at my gun clubs target frames. The T screw has a point on it to penetrate the 2 x 4 to hold it in place.
