:)

Chuck,

What mods have you made to your gun to get fps you are getting. I also have a MK2 with the power plenum and 700mm FX Hybrid Slug Liner. My accuracy is comparable to yours but I am not able to run at that high of FPS. I am using 49,5 grain Nielson slugs. I have tried the FX slugs also which shoot close the accuracy of the Nielsons. Thanks for the post.

Hi Patrick, for your information the twist rate of the new .30 cal. STX Superior Liners is 1:22", and the twist rate for the .30 cal. STX Superior Heavy Liner is 1:18". I will take this as an opportunity to speak to this issue regarding STX barrel liners. Since the beginning when FX first came out with this Smooth Twist X Barrel System there has been some confusion surrounding the names given to the different iterations of barrel liners. Such as Pellet A or Pellet B or Slug A or Slug B or Superior this or that... I have often thought that FX could clear up the present confusion and rumors and such surrounding all this by simply referring to each and every separate barrel liner by its Caliber & Twist Rate. PERIOD! And then simply make mention of how a certain Caliber & Twist rate is better for Pellets or better for Hybrids or Both, or is better for Heavy Slugs.

As of a few weeks ago I grew tired of waiting for one of the new "Superior Heavy Liners" to become available, and was on the verge of ordering a new barrel from TJ Barrel Liners. But before I ordered one I Googled "fx barrel liners" and found a new release from FXUSA showing the Caliber & Twist Rate for all the new STX Superior & STX Superior Heavy Liners thank God. So then I spoke to one of the guys at Utah Airguns whom confirmed that yes the new STX Superior Liner had a twist rate of 1:22" - I made him go in the back and measure one for me to prevent any future conflict because they don't accept returns on barrels, and I told him if they shipped me anything but a 1:22" liner that I would be returning it regardless.

So anyway, with this new STX Superior Liner's twist rate confirmed at 1:22" I went to my JBM Ballistics Stability Calculator and entered all the pertinent factors in there and lo and behold according to the Stability Calculator those FX Hybrids looked like they would be completely stable with a twist rate of 1:22"...so of course I went ahead and purchased one... and you read the results of my testing yesterday so the Stability Calculator was right on the money. You know target photos can be easily faked but photos of one Hybrid hitting the one in front of it squarely in the ass cannot! With this STX Superior Liner you can stack these .30 Hybrids on top of each other...and same goes for the FX Pellets!

Here is a photo of the JBM Ballistics Stability Calculator input box and results - and just so it makes sense to you understand that a result between 1.3 to 2.0 is great! A result of 1.45-1.5 is the US Military Reqirement. So as you can see in the photo a result of 1.66 is almost perfect! Please also understand that the result is the same all the way down to 900 ft./s, and that the projectiles stability is based on its length as well as some other factors I won't go into here now.

And here is the new twist rate chart published by FXUSA recently - I hope this clears up some of the confusion in relation to FX liner twist rate charts published in the past. I called FXUSA two weeks ago to confirm this twist rate chart is the most current up to date chart and that all twist rates are valid, and this was confirmed for me by FXUSA! So here ya go...hope this is helpful Patrick.

P.S. FXUSA also absolutely confirmed for me that all the new rifles being shipped from Sweden will have the new "STX Superior Liner" in them...regardless of caliber. What you see on that twist rate chart is what you will get in your new FX Air Rifle. Please call FXUSA if you have further questions on this subject so you can get an answer straight from the horses mouth...so to speak.

Best regards, Chuck

Chuck, Thank you for this incredibly detailed report of the newest FX STX Superior liners. I had no idea. We do know FX "slips" new designs to the market unannounced, letting us "discover" new engineering marvels and sharing these benefits with all who care. No better marketing than that. Even better when they work as designed. Enjoy your Impact and new scope 😉

Nice results! I too am getting fantastic results with a Superior heavy but in .22. 94 fpe so far at max. But in a Custom JSAR Raptor. I make my own HP's and had no idea there was such an issue getting hp's to open out there. Mine are over achievers. I have both explosive opening HP's for vermin as well as my standard HP's that open to over.50 cal on water bottle s at 80 yards.

As soon as I can get back to casting, and and Big gets back in good shape, I am going to send him some to test. Sadly, I don't sell them. I just shoot a lot!😁

this is what it does at 80 yards from the Raptor. It is only a 29 gr. slug. (Water Jug) Recovered slug pieces look pretty much the same taken from squirrels. Ultra DRT!!! Sounds almost like a firecracker when they hit.

And finally an in-between design.

.25 cal with fast opening, but not explosive opening. For heavier vermin.

I also make these for my Talon/Dor .257. Devastating!

Hey nice scope there yuh old painter, you. Helga is a BEAST for sure! Ha, I'm an old ex painting contractor myself. Which of course warrants an appropriate painter story! This is a funny one "kinda", that I just have to share. My 2nd worst customer in 44 years of painting was a mean old women. After painting the interior of her house she didn't like the color of her interior trim, the color of course that she had picked. So I told her the hourly amount to repaint the trim the lighter off white color she wanted it changed to, which required 2 more coats to cover, but you know how some people are - well she thought we should have done that for next to nothing like it was my fault. I did give her a deal on the price so she reluctantly agreed - we finished the job. Next thing I know I've got a nasty phone call from her boyfriend demanding that money back, lol. Then a call from the register of contractors. Long story short I won the case in small claims court. Ha, her name was Helga 😅. From there on out she was known as HELGA THE HORRIBLE!!!😁😂😆😉 Since your gun does horrible things at great speed to anything it strikes with the new STX liner you should appropriately name it HELGA THE HORRIBLE, lol! JK but.....

I can't wait to hear what you have to say about the Helos G2. I'm the guy that badgered ole Kev into putting all those features together so I'm very excited with how mine operates and for those that can appreciate what this scope is "all about"!

I'm so happy for you that you finally achieved what you were after with Helga! What a wonderful feeling you must have!

Thanks for the report CHUCK.

Hey Chuck, did you get the APRS6 reticle in the ETR? I'm looking forward to your impressions on it too!

Later this summer I think I'll sell my Gen 1 Argos BTR and buy a Helos G2 6-24 APRS6 reticle for my FT rifle.

I don't have much use for a 3-18 ETR but I do for my Cronus G2 4.5-29x56 😁 It's IMO the best scope for the price there is! They might as well be asking $3000 for it because that's how it performs!

Here's my Helos G2 2-12x42, same scope on all of them to see how it holds up and to test it in different ways. Yep it's a keeper alright!
