700mm Barrel Over 600mm Barrel

Hi
With the 700mm you can get a little more accuracy at long range and if you want to shoot something heavier you would have a little more power.
With the 600mm is enough to shoot 34gr pellets the accuracy at long distances is a little lower and the airgun is more maneuverable in tight spaces.

Thanks Enkey - about what I expected.

Each barrel-munition has its optimum speed an increase or decrease of speed is a negative result for accuracy
That’s very interesting. So if a .25 Diabolo pellet has an optimum speed of 850-900 fps, the optimum speed for accuracy will be different for a 600mm barrel and a 700mm barrel, correct? So the 600 might be accurate at 872fps and the 700 may not be as accurate at that velocity, correct?

There is absolutely no correlation between accuracy and barrel length. If there was any measurable difference it would sway to the shorter stiffer tube.
The only need for a longer barrel is velocity. For any given pressure you will get more velocity from the longer barrel.

What are the benefits- pros and cons - to 700mm barrel over the 600mm barrel on an FX Impact M3 .25 caliber shooting pellets only (33.95/34 grain JSB and FX)?
Going over 600 your in the fishing poll region

Actually,..yes longer barrel will give more power, but for accuracy at the relatively slow speeds we shoot the shorter barrel has the chance to give better accuracy.

Thanks even. I was considering going to the 70mm barrel but I think I’ll stick with the 600 and spend that $350 on pellets!
600mm That's a good decision!!!!
Respect your previous question 2 equal barrels using the same pellets can have different optimum velocities within a not very wide range, example between 850-950

Well, I'm after accuracy. I shoot from a bench and have a 9L bottle and a compressor nearby so shot count is not an issue. I can even tether my 300 bar tank since I also have the inline micro regulator from lethalair.net. As far as fps I'm able to tune anywhere I want to between 850 and (over) 900 fps. Bottom line, I'm happy with my FX Impact M3 standard 600mm .25 caliber as it is and my questions have been answered - don't need to invest in the 700mm barrel kit!
