$50 price increase across the board for FX guns

They were already making a killing! Now....what are the going to to with all the extra $!

just curious how much do they make per gun? they aren’t made in China in case people don’t realize that. There are Chinese guns for almost 1000 dollars that cost a fraction of Swiss labor and material, I don’t see people complain about them truly making a real killing.

How come no body complains about 3000 dollar daystate guns and making a killing?

Roflmao you really think FX is made in Switzerland? Its swedish made and judging from the videos they use ALOT of young ppl most likely just out from highschool to do really simple tasks and most likely pay them alot under 10$/hour. Fredrik really isnt any saint who wants to give everyone best bang for the buck he is notoriously known for pushing new boundaries to find new cheaper ways to do things to increase profit margings even more. What comes to chinese guns you guys really think manufacturer gets that 1000dollars? Its mostlikely really thin and small ammount of profit what factory gets versus retailers, taxes etc etc. FX is also known really well for having pretty nasty and evil system against consumers and thats the fact retailing prices are controlled by FX not retailers and also the fact you cant order outside of the country if you habe your own fx dealer in yours. FX is like LV its cheaper to burn poop products and keep hype and brand up than sell them on sale prices and take hit against brand. Judging by materials they use, volume they have and prices they sell combined with strictly slaved retailer net they surely have by far highest profit margings in industry. If you are not happy with it there is plenty of other brands.

$3000 Daystates don't sell in volume. Fx guns sell in much large volumes. They are able to spread more cash around than any other maker. They are able to grease the gears of success like no other.

I don't blame them it's just good business and it is clearly working for them. With all the innovations, endeavors like ammo, funding for different projects they clearly making a killing.

The only problem high volume makers have (in general) are keeping up with quality, with such complex guns and such high volumes- It is difficult to make sure every one is perfect before it reaches retailers. Then a lot of the work of fixing and warranty work falls on the retailers back. Then the retailers try to push the buyers to other makers with smaller volumes and less issues and complexity to save on the overwhelming warranty work. Then the high volume maker company could get angry at that retailer for favoring other makers, and could end all business with them and participation in their competition. Then the high volume maker could start their own competition elsewhere and completely ignore their original retailer bitterly. The high volume maker may have to open their own office in the USA to keep up with the warranty work.

The last paragraph is not about FX and AOA at all just generally speaking, of course.

To be clear, a $50 price hike may be warranted and wouldn’t deter me from buying a gun that’s already $1500, give or take, to begin with. If I were a happy FX customer, I wouldn’t even blink at that. However, based exclusively on my first and only experience, I will not buy another one, likely ever. If they want to make me a believer, they can send me a free one like they do for the army of influencers out there.

@davidsng The thought never occurred to me, furthest thing from my mind 😂

I paid $2,000+ for my Crown. I then paid another$500 for a scope, then mounts, then a bipod, then a shooting bench, then two 12 liter bottles , then a Bauer compressor, then a rifle vice, then etc. I did that to save money 'cuz air and pellets are cheap. ................What the hell is $50! Don't get me wrong, I love my Crown and I will buy a new Impact when FX introduces its next generation.

Because they are quintessential excellence in craftsmanship and reliability.

I was half tempted to post a divorce song about that. I've heard extensively about that split and I think altogether it was a good thing for AoA ultimately. AoA sure has my business. Their whole team is cool dudes. I really like their display line up in their brick and mortar store front and they have some pellets that are hard to find elsewhere.

How else they gonna pay for all their YouTube salesmen? Lol

If you truly don't think FX makes good money on there guns then you aren't seeing it. FX is top of the line when it comes to a business. They sell many many guns and many other things to improve on there guns. There marketing is truly top notch. You can buy almost everything FX. From guns to scopes, scope mounts to chronographs, slugs to pellets. If they weren't out to make money I think they would be more focused on guns than getting things rebranded with there name on it like pellets and slugs and the FX chronograph which they didn't make but helped the maker make it into an airgun useable one. And it is a great tool I have one but yeah it's a money thing. Even though they are furthering the sport in many ways no doubt there, there is a money aspect to it that can be seen. And props to them for making it work, but don't think they're making pennies on there guns so a price increase is absolutely necessary.

And that's not talking about the many upgrades you can buy for your FX and the barrels that you can upgrade to that are superior to the prior ones.

They have brilliant marketing. Hands down the best marketing I've ever seen.

$50 on top of $1000+ guns isn’t the worst thing to happen. Even $1000 for these things is too much but then I have 3 FX guns that were initially priced at $1000+. I did not pay full price on any of them bought new from a dealer. I paid <$1000 on two of them and the other was -$600 (33%) less than the new price offered by dealers currently. I had to wait and shop around and I got lucky when I found them. If a person doesn’t have to have the latest and greatest and can wait, the deals show them selves eventually.

Im not in the market for a new high end pcp. If I were, $50 wouldn’t kill the deal but I certainly don’t want to pay more if I don’t have too.

What is the problem? Supply and demand? More people want them at the current prices than what they can build. The price must be too low, or they wouldn’t be selling out... Sure the price may be high to some, but overall, they must not be too high, contrary to popular belief. Some rifles are much higher, and yet the shelves are full of them. Maybe, we should be complaining about the already too high prices on those rifles instead... People actually are not cleaning out the stock of those rifles because they don’t feel they are getting the value for the money.

We act like they are the only one increasing pricing. Pricing goes up all the time. Vortex implemented a price increase on Jan 1, and I don’t think people are stopping ordering those overpriced scopes. Many companies didn’t make nearly the money they normally do this year, with the pandemic affecting all areas of business. Whether it is purely supply and demand and they just want an extra $50 or whether they need it to offset some income they didn’t make, what do I care? That is the great thing about this world. You get to go buy something else, buy what you want. Every single company is trying to figure out what to do about selling prices right now and how to make money. This is nothing new. How much money is too much money to a company? Who gets to decide? Should we really implement income caps, because companies are too successful?

Gas prices change every day! Better stop buying gas! They raised the price on me $0.10 today. Car prices went up, how dare they, they cut costs this year and made it crappier but I have to pay more? Cable prices went up and they suck! How dare all these companies try to make money... while they can... got to make the money while you can. That is life man.

I own and have owned FXs, but have owned just as many Daystates, and have owned several other brands as well. So I’m not defending FX. I’m defending business.

Spot on man! Gasoline prices went up this year and Fredriks Mclaren 720S fuel cost skyrocketed its only fair to add that 50$! Man that car burns that fuel! Shame on you poor crybabys! 😂

I have to agree with you here. Much o this thread reads as if the people involved have no idea how business works. There are lots of people who get into a particular business (like making airguns) out of love for a sport. If they don’t learn how to run a business they very quickly go out of business, leaving former customers high and dry! Frederick Abelson may have gotten into this business because he loves airguns, but he is in it, and very successful, because he knows how to run a business! Constantly finding ways to improve productivity, even while pushing the boundaries with innovative products is not easy, but is absolutely necessary if one is to be successful. Raising prices when necessary, or possible, is also a part of the equation. Establishing your own local distribution setup, such as he did with FXUSA is not cheap, and quite likely a money loser in the short term. But in the long term it allows you to exercise control over the pricing and distribution of the product, manage inventories and servicing, and generally improve your knowledge of the (local) market.

Most people have no idea about the margins in any consumer related business, including those who complain about the fact that the Chinese made products cost so little to make, but sell for (in many cases) comparable prices to stuff made elsewhere. Let me tell you a little secret. Price (to you) and cost (to the manufacturer) are only tangentially related. You make a product for as little as you can, consistent with the quality, service, etc. you intend to provide. You sell a product for as much as you can, consistent with demand, supply, and competition. If you can make it for a dollar and sell for $10, that’s what you’ll do. If it costs $5 but there is competition and you can sell for only $10, that’s what you’ll do. These are not government contract, cost + businesses. Furthermore, everyone in the retail chain has their own margins to support. Thus, it is not uncommon for a manufacturer to make a product that has manufacturing costs of $25, sells to a wholesaler/distributor for $50, then has the wholesaler sell that on to a retailer for $60. In many instances retail margins range between 30% and 50% (of Gross selling price). If we settle on 40% the retailer is selling the product for approximately $100.

Finally, before we think that all of those margins represent profits, remember that along each part of the chain people have their fixed costs, like rents/mortgages on facilities, administration, interest (if they borrowed money), administrative costs (finance, marketing, HR/payroll, etc). Oh yes, and TAXES!

Welcome to Capitalism folks. It absolutely sucks, and at the same time is better than every other economic system out there! And remember, without it we would have FX airguns or any of the others either.

If $50 bucks more on an Impact is too much, walk away and buy something else.

Good Luck and have Fun, since that’s what it should be about, especially for those of us lucky enough to be having a debate about a $50 (2.5%) increase on, say, a $2000 Impact.
