Been waiting for a new batch of custom barrels and they finally showed up. I got one machined and began the process of getting it In order.

With the warmer weather....also comes the heavy wind here in Colorado. It was 10-15 while I was able to get out and shoot. The temp was 37....so it was not very comfortable.

I held at the very outside of the black on the right side for every shot and let them land where they may. The distinct lack of vertical is the exciting part. The width of the group was expected for the approximate 5 mph difference between high and low. I’m sure I was clicked into the wind as well, because I didn’t have any light wind to get it set after putting the barrel on.

22 RD monsters at 930. After the target blew off I took 10-12 shots with the Beast 34gr and they also shot just as well....just lower. I’ll test more with them when I can.

This is pretty much all I could hope for.

Thanks, guys.

Steve....I don’t think the drift is any less than normal...I’m sure I was clicked into the wind some. I just wanted to get the group on the bull. In this kind of wind I would not be trying for Xs...I would be hedging my bets and trying to land 10s. This is as flat as guns get in heavy wind. My slug gun drifts 3x less, but you cannot remove the 30 degree slant.

Thanks....

Steve will have plenty of work to do to get his holds figured out. It certainly won’t be easy since he lives about 5000’ higher than where the match is held....and apparently there is not a sight in range at the match with at least the longest and shortest distances. I’m guessing he will have to take a trip to get that sorted before match day.

Looks like sunny and mid 40s tomorrow...maybe it won’t be blustery.

Yep, of course I'm waking up like a kid on Christmas morning looking forward to my own Thomas HPX, but I have to put it out of my mind so I'm not tormented all day, patience- patience- patience, lol! I already have my Steve Corcoran hybrid BR and EFT stock for it which feels as nice as it looks. Marry them both and her name will be "SURELY", appropriately named because if I miss it's surely gonna be on me, and my hope is SURELY will get a few W's here and there as well.

Now if I can only learn to shoot like my three buds, Mike N, Bobby C, and Mike B!

But darn right I'm going to love this gun every minute!

Wow, dude. Because I’m old fashioned, that is the exact configuration that I should’ve ordered six months ago. I even talked to Steve about the stock. It sounds like he’s making some wonderful target grade beautiful stocks. I’m just a wood guy, and it sounds like you are also.

Can’t wait to see pictures and results. Very jealous

Yep I love nice wood and the blank Steve had on hand is a decent one! I love things that are different and preferably custom so this was a fun venture. Steve would send me photo's and updates on progress which was neat to be involved in, and he's a likeable person to deal with.

But there's a part of me that wishes I'd gone for a AAA walnut blank, or my #1 pick, a fancy laminate blank like these, https://www.cerusrifleworks.com/makes, but he wouldn't sell me one to send off to Steve.

When Surely is together I'll start a thread about it with some photos.

Mike that is just awesome. And you were shooting in heavier winds than I was today. My winds were between 5 & 10 mph but switching up on me and I didn't have wind flags. I managed a 706 for the .25 Cricket and 710 for the .30 Boss for my first try on both using your 50 yd sample target and your scoring plugs. Would you like me to do a separate post in the BR forum or post them under your new sanctioning body post?

Whew, my brain is fried shooting those six cards in the wind! LOL I gotta long way to go to get better.

Here's my best card of the day. Thanks for the starter kit ;-)
