457 mold?

Lee molds has a 340 grain that I use. Readily available everywhere (Amazon, midwayusa, ect. .457 340 grain. HTH

Lee cheapest $25.00. Then Arsenal molds,NOE molds,and Accurate molds....lots of.design s and many will make mold custom diameter..

Same one I use for my Texan. Does well enough. Not up to speed with Mr. Hollowpoint bullets past 50 yards, but certainly comparable up to 50.

I use Accurate 95% of the time. I like to design my own bullets and have Tom make the mold and then send it off to Erik Ohlen to get a few cavities made into a hollowpoint!

the lee 340-f dose so well in my texan that I have not tried anything else. they cast right about 350gr in pure lead. Deer shots are close here so I am sighted in at 50 yards. I picked up a used single cavity version for about $25 shipped a few years ago. I had meant to use that mold to get me by for awhile buy saw no reason to spend more on a higher end mold.

Lyman makes a 405gr RNFP mold in .457 that i use in my piledriver.
and i run it thru my Lee sizer just for smiles......its a bone crusher
to the front running gear !!

My Texan .457 long CF loves the Lee 340 grain.
I cast of og wheel weights and the come out at .459 and 355 grains.
Inside 60 yards I can shoot 7 shots under in about a 1.5" group
100 yards it opens up to about a 4"

Yup, that is the slug to use. My Cothran/TJ rifle really likes it:

For $25.00 try a lee 2 cavity mold with handle... If it doesn't work buy a Arsenal NOE or Accurate mold....Lee sizer is good and cheap

I've been using this NOE mold 460-315-HP PB in my 45 Texan and sizing it down to .454 for my XP Ranger 45 it came with pins for solid, dish or deep hp.
I added the airsoft BB for expansion but with the lead mixture I use it's really not necessary, They usually drop in the deep HP 280 to 287gr.
