41 yards, 1 mil for wind...BINGO!

Do not know that bird, but wonder if it is an invasive species, or what motivation you had for killing it. Don't get me wrong. I don't know the species so have no idea whether or not it is on the list for your area. I am always careful not to pull the trigger on anything which I do not know is a pest species.

Edit: He is apparently a pest in many areas. He is a Red Winged Blackbird. Not a bad looking bird: https://www.pinterest.com/cinammonlatte/birds-red-winged-blackbird/

Good shot.

Are they endangered?

Red-winged blackbirds are widespread and abundant, as migratory birds they are protected under the U.S. Migratory Bird Act.

But the same article says they can be pests when depredating crops..

If that is true, we got to advise the kiddies not to be shooting them ... even if they are pests... Are all migratory birds protected?
