3D Printer

I’m looking for a good quality 3D printer in the $1,000 range. Is that possible? If so, can someone point me in the right direction. Just looking to get my feet wet in the 3D printing world. There are so many to choose from. Can someone give me first hand experience of what works well for them?

I think the best printer for the money is the prusa mk3s. They have excellent support and community. They also offer really good warranty. If you buy the creality printers they are cheaper but you will have to spend extra money to get them to print well. They still don't use all metal hot ends.

The enders are a good starting point. I have a delta printer as well, prints fast but more of a pain to dial in vs Cartesian styles. If the ender bed isn't big enough, then can look at the CR10 series. Sidewinder artillery is popular. 

I also have an ender 3 s1 pro so I can print with polycarbonate. The steadfast ender 3 pro (believe microcenter has these on sale for first time customers for $99 again). And I also have a Sovol Sv04 IDEX printer. 

It's a big ol' rabbit hold to go down and you'll want to throw it against the wall many time. If you just want to one and done it, the prusa printers are top notch.

The sovol sv-01 is great and a considerable step up from the ender. Direct drive for more types of filament , dual z-axis motors, recover from interrupt, auto bed leveling (with simple Kit) and a larger build area. I’ve been using it for three years without any problems at all I just get perfect prints off of it.


There is a new model just out that is like the sV01 but with a bunch of upgrades installed and worth a look. Called the SV01 pro I think.

I've been using an ender 3 for a while, and it works, but it takes a lot of coersion and monitoring sometimes. Mine has a number of upgrades but I know for sure (as stated by MrP) there are much better printers for the money.

What you think the 3d printer is?

And what material? Filament or resin?

There is no odorless printing and all the fumes are harming, the supporting equipment (heaters+coolers+air filtering+enclosure ++++) can cost you 2x or 3x or 5x as a printer alone.

I have been exposed at work for years to filament printers industrial level, and I have developed preferences. Filaments printed parts are not pretty not precise not fitting nicely and I didn't wanted to get any of those.

I decided for a resin printer for myself. I am a mechanical designer, also in my life I was a CNC programmer as well for almost two decades. I design my own parts, this to consider as well.

I tried the Epax10, didn't like it and traded in for Creality Halot Sky. Mechanically way better machine.

If I would buy again that would be a Phrozen or Prusa, recommended by all Forums.
