what he didn't say was it takes two men and a horse to get the bolt to slide back , No kidding , butt of gun braced and both hands and more than considerable effort several times to get the bolt back to cock the rifle . It does shoot wonderfully if you can cock the bolt . maybe he used a coil spring from an automobile ?

ANY suggestions ? .

The hammer spring is to heavy? Maybe someone changed it at some point. Take it out and snip a couple of coils off and try it again. Sometimes some won't dump all the air from 8 pumps so they will over spring the hammer to get it to.

Try some moly grease on the bolt-if it's dry that will definitely increase the effort.
