.311 size to .309?

So I had really good luck shooting the 113 gr .309 ammo I produced out of my texan .308 carbine , I'd like to bring the weight of my round down though to about 90.



The 113 was accurate but averaged 860 fps, I'd like a little more velocity.



I've never cast or sized except for these rounds and I was wondering if I could cast these .311 and size them to .309?

Not sure I should be the one to reply to this being new here. If you are asking if this cast bullet can be sized to .309 I can say YES, I do it for a powder burner i have. I was hoping to buy a 30 cal pcp and cast my own projectiles. I will be watching to see what answers you get, I hope this helps if not sorry.

It does, I've found my .308 likes a bit over size but not many molds in .309 at the weight I want so this looks very promising. I will be updating , give me a follow on here

You can always cut down the mold a bit. Removing the sprue and milling off some of the top of the mold you can shorten the projectile making it lighter. If you lighten it to much you can always have the lube groves removed to bring up the weight again. Its a playing game. I have 200g RF 45 mold I had milled down to around 185g. 

The way I came up with deciding the weight I wanted was to (disclaimer here do not do this and make sure you have proper safety gear) Cast the bullet, Then lightly shave off the tail end with a file or some other way. Once it comes in the weight you want after trying a few that work. Then taking a new bullet placing the shaved bullet into the mold and milling until you hit the lead bullet, Might have to tap the sprue plate deeper or use a shorter bolt to reinstall.

Yup .. you might have to size down 2 times I have sizing dies in 310 - 309 n 308 just in case size all to 310 - then to 309 .. I know more experienced casters would say it could be done in one pas .. but I prefer 2 steps sizing in order not to put to much pressure in a 100% lead bullet .. it might deformed I bit... everything you could find at eBay will be 310+ ..almost the only way to come close to bore size is to order custom from Arenal molds -- or Accurate molds ..the last one has the largest selection in 308+cal molds in every weight needed..

I ordered a 34 inch standard length barrel to pick up more velocity so that will help with running this 113gr I'm casting now:)
