30-Yard Challenge

Not much wind so I gave the 30-yard challenge a go. I had to sight in after messing around at 100 yards. I ended up with my best target yet! I had to hold at 7 oc on the 9 ring. I was too chicken to crank the knobs!! This might be the best I can do...we will see.

Hey Again,
After two days of rain I finally got a chance to continue working with the DRS. This time shot a 30 yd Challenge Card

For the Leader Board ***** 30 Yd Challange 198-14x with the FX DRS Classic 500mm .177 ******

While it was raining I played musical scopes with my rifles. The Athlon Heras SPR 6-24x56 SFP is the only scope I have found that even comes close to the Falcon X50FT when it comes to ranging the targets using the Parallax Knob. But I need every advantage I can get with my FT rigs so I swapped the 2nd Falcon back on the DRS. I change the Low Vortex rings and the High Pic Rail for Adjustable FX rings on a low pic rail. This allows me to keep my 30 yd zero within 3 MOA of the optical center of the scope. If I play with it some more I could likely do better.

I had trouble at my FT match last month with a POI shift during the match. I eventually blamed it on the rings not being snug enough. I have had outstanding luck with the FX adjustable rings and the bonus of not being 15 MOA from the optical center seemed worth it.

So, overall happy with this card though I am still getting a couple of 8's. This was again shot from the same tin as the last time.

Thanks Tom. The GCMAG brand is made here in the Philippines by Gilbert Felipe and I ordered it directly from him October of 2024 and was shipped to me a couple of days ago. His production is very slow since all of his CNC machines are at his house and he already found a larger facility to accommodate more CNC machines for faster production. Gilbert currently is processing his international manufacturing permit so that he can export his products when his export permit gets approved.

The JMS-Pro pellets are also made (hand swaged) here by my friend Kynth and his workers. JSB, AA, H&N and other imported pellets are becoming extinct in our country because no stores sell them thus we are forced to buy locally made pellets for competitions and hunting.

This is my brand new unit which is called a GCMAG MAGNUM Gen2 with an all aluminum benchrest stock, adjustable cheek rest, adjustable butt pad and some pre-drilled holes underneath for accessories. The 16mm OD 24” barrel is a GF1000 also made by Gilbert Felipe just for JMS-Pro pellets so I can use it for local BR25 and BR50 meter competitions requiring Philippine made pellets.

I will give everyone an update as to when the GCMAG is available for export as well as the US distributor/reseller when everything is in place.

Gilbert and his family has been manufacturing PCPs (mostly for hunting) since the 2000’s. I’ll be helping him finding US dealers when he is ready.

JSB and H&N actually has a Philippine distributor but the problem is all their stocks are already sold before they arrive. There’s this unscrupulous group of individuals who hoard all their stocks are stocks and resell them at a steep price. You can’t find any JTS, AEA, ZAN, Altaros, Javelin, etc. here because of dealership exclusivity.

About my 985 FPS velocity… since 2011 up to present I always shoot 965 FPS minimum up to 1000+ FPS (18+gr) depending on my location. 95% of the time I shoot at an elevation of only 40 feet above sea level which equates to dense air. Sometimes our density altitude drops -30 feet all of a sudden causing our POI’s to drop. I always monitor the density altitude using my Kestrel anemometer.

Low Density altitude = more FPS needed
High Density altitude = less FPS

P35-22 with Vector Sentinel 8-32 set at 32X shooting AEA 21.9 grain at 835 fps.

This is the first target with this pellet in this gun. I think my previous best was a 198 13X with H&N 21 grain. The wind was up to 4 mph and direction was varying. That and boat traffic are my excuses. I'm hoping for better. Wind picked up in the latter part of the target.

I am trying to get a good score with the Revere, but can’t seem to find my way.

Tommy, I have zero Daystate experience but my SPA bullpups are loving AEA pellets. The first little tin of 250 of the 18.3 (they really weigh 18.1) gave me 194, 195, 196, 197, two 199s, and one 200. Nothing lower and the 194 and 195 were with a very dirty barrel. The 199s were after I cleaned it. I shot the first target with the 21.9 grain in my P35-22 today and it was a 198. If I had watched my wind flags better it might have been a 200. On the other hand, my Caiman X seems to like H&N 18s better. So no guarantees. But the little 250 tins are typically $10.

This is my second 200 this year and only 4th total. I shot my first 2 years ago with this gun and scope with H&N 21.1 grain match pellets. I shot a lot of targets with the H&N pellets including 3 199s. This is only the second with the AEA pellets. Wind seemed OK but officially it was 6 mph. I had to adjust a little. Both shots in cell 8 are really close. Through the scope I thought they were 9s. I'll include close ups. Very pleased.

I didn't shoot for 10+ days - as I was roaming Wyoming - fun trip.

1st cards after the break I grabbed the .177 Dreamline Classic. Tested AEA vs. JSB 10.3g. Dreamline shoots them both about the same - I shot both cards without a single click on the scope between the two pellets. These days I'm feeling that the AEA are a bit more consistent. However, on these two cards, the JSBs had much tougher wind conditions.

I also tried the JSB 18.13s in my .22 Daystate Regal. I set it up to shoot the 15.89s at 805-810fps - so it shoots the 18.13s about 750fps. It put up a good score with the 18.13s.

It felt good to get some lead downrange - hope that you guys have been getting in lots of shooting.
