.30 smooth bore replacement for Hatsan 130S Vortex

Good Morning-

Yep, I'm new. I absolutely adore my .30, even if finding pellets has proven to be practically impossible- and finding 'green' ones completely impossible. So to make things interesting I'd like to turn it into a shotgun :)

Or at least have the ability to do so. I reached out to Hatsan to obtain their disassembly diagram as it isn't up on the website- haven't heard back yet.

So: Anyone take apart one and/or mod the barrel ? If so, how did it go? Considering the Gamo Viper express can do .22 shot shells and is (fairly) OK, I'm hoping that some heavier/larger pellets would work with the .30.

And I still need to remove the manual sights on this beast as they're only accurate if I don't use them.

Thanks all, and have a great new year.

Its been done and the person who did it may chime in. Looks like pattern density was lost after 15 ft. I don't think its worth the effort.

I recommend using a peep sight for your rifle.

This is what I use on mine because the rifle has a low line of sight and other peep sights don't go low enough: https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/sights/williams-fp-gr-tk-aperture-sight/

If after using the peep sight you still find you aren't shooting accurately out to 35m, its you not the sights. Just being honest.

And remember, this rifle is for hitting big targets at short range. Dime sized groups are a silly pursuit.

I'm guessing you what to keep the original barrel and get another in smooth but that might not be possible

but you could take your barrel or another and ream it or drill the front out to a new ID, it is only 10+ inches and hell it's only money

Totally want to keep the original barrel. Can't tell yet if the inaccuracy is me (probably) or the sights (lousy). I'm also a lot weaker in my left arm after a stroke, even though I have made a 'full recovery'. So I can sense and feel my heartbeat moving things around, which makes it just a bit loose.

I don't believe I have unrealistic expectations of what I'll get out of this engineered marvel. It is always welcome to caution me, however, because I do get grandiose thoughts now and then.

Most of those started when I read up on the opposing cylinder airguns- no recoil, tremendous power. I've wanted to build one out where you have to cock it twice (double leverage/half stroke).

I'll poke around more now that you tell me someone has done it (and recently, too!).

Thank you!

J

Would not recommend changing the barrel at all unless damaged?

Dime sized shooting patterns, please see Rom Gaylord’s accuracy and humane shooting proficiency. I and my Hatsan 130S Cortex and Carnivore shoot cloverleaf

quarter groups with Polymag from the opening of the box and Leapers UTG 6x24

-50AO scope-and any other rifle with same or better Leapers or Simmons scopes. So I politely disagree, these pellet rifles are inherently accurate, 50# physically capable adult sized humans required, diligence to imprecise, adapt, & overcome problems achieving this normal minimum proficiency if engaging animals- paper is optional, but recommended for muscle memory and remediation of skill sets.
Have the Hatsan130S vortex Synthtic stock-> 50# cocking effort yields pure raw down range Excellent CONSISTENT Accuracy, with Leapers UTG 6x24-50AO purpose built double recoil-proof scope of exceptional clarity and utilitarian humane one shot kill or bulleyes at 75+ yards or less depending on wholelistic variables you must determine in Advance.
