.30 slug liners.

Decided not to use a brass inlet on my .550" O.D. barrel:

I kind of like the idea if having it one-piece

That's exactly what I was thinking would be ideal for a dedicated, sized barrel. Do you need to remove some length of the lands and or bevel the slug's approach to them (in the area after the o-ring groove, where the probe is initially pushing the slug into the breech for it's seated position)?

Yep. The breech needs to be reamed out. I haven't done it yet, but I'm going to set it up so they seat gradually into the rifling. The bore diameter is 0.294" raw, it will take some elbow grease getting everything done lol

It's starting to look more like an Impact barrel now 💪

Yeah it's a lot of work lol. I had to take the O.D. down to 0.538 to fit the block (before threading stage), spent almost a day planning and making tools needed to get there..

1 word: RESPECT! I’m 54 years old, and always regretted it, not to have learned to work with a lathe! I know...it’s never to late😁😉.

But after reading the FX USA instagram post, I officially cancelled my (March 2019) order for a impact mkII .30/700mm barrel & .30/700mm slug liner. The way a .30 shoots from factory isn’t worth my €2260 (+/-$2.500) Maybe an mk3 in the future? But for now I’ve had it with the way FX treats European customers! Not one single impact mkII in my country yet!

But I’ll keet watching these posts, because of the craftsmanship that some of you guys have!👍

Cheers.

Yes, that is going to take a bit of polishing to bring it out at the right i.d. for sure. The best thing about this setup is there isn't going to be much barrel whip or harmonics to contend with; just a nice solid blued barrel sticking out there!

100% The fit in the action and block is incredible. It'll probably take me today + the weekend to ream and polish, but the end result will be worthwhile.

I see many people wanting a TJ barrel. But something I tell you, the TJ barrels are coating that the factory sells. for that reason they don't come so thick this is not work for airgun. For this job of strangling there were only two large turners that make these barrels precise with guarantees. it was jim gaske and i think roy. but now bill is the one with all the machinery that jim gaske used. Here I am going to send you a photo of a new barrels that I ordered to be machined with a bill for an RTI. my people don't start inventing by mechanizing these barrels that they won't get what they want. This barrels need machinery to make it precise. Follow me on my instagram account, @airgunplusrd1 I upload video making shots at 100 meters within an inch. with a 14 ”inch TJ barrel
