I wonder if one could mount it to a scope, then put an iPhone nearby and you could aim through your iPhone. It would only work where you have a Wireless network available, but for backyard rats and such it might be a decent solution.

Actually, one could use a wireless hotspot as a portable wifi network and walk around with the camera and scope active. Need to find a way to power the camera though. I don't think that it's PoE (Power Over Ethernet).

I did a little research. The power is supplied via a miniUSB connector, so you could connect this to a powerbank making it portable. I have a FreedomPop Mobil WiFi hotspot that is also a powerbank...this could be interesting...Might need to add one of these too:

I bought a baby camera for day and night, way back when. For the same reason. It's cordless as well. I give 6.0 out of 10 for night time. Day time is 10 out of 10. The place I bought mine from had expensive ones! Better off buying a expensive one from gun shop or wherever.

You may need a better light. The lens on the camera is too wide to be used on a scope.

That is the one I'm referring to. The description doesn't mention the frequency it uses so its hard to tell if it will be truly functional.

850nm according to the QA for the flashlight. It bleeds into the red visible spectrum, but I'm not really looking for stealth...

This one i got is 850nm and doesn't bleed into visible spectrum. If an IR light bleeds then it's essentially just a filtered flash light. Also if you order that light, order batteries as well because it doesn't come with any.

I received the flashlight today. I think that it is basically a blacklight/UV flashlight, not IR. Oh well. It was $8 and it works well enough for what it is. I'll find a use for it someday...

I'm just kidding...I know that I can't aim this through a scope. I already tried that a month or two ago. You end up with a nice thermal image of the lens. Would be nice though...

They refunded me my purchase price. Now I have a nice blacklight flashlight for free. The night vision camera actually is REALLY nice. It works very well and streams video to my phone so long as it can connect to a wireless network. The downside is that by default it will ONLY work if it also has internet access. It streams the video to the MeShare.com cloud service. That part I don't like. I have some experience with Zmodo security cameras and I think that there is likely a way to monitor the cameras internally and disabling the cloud part. I still need to play around with that a bit. The cameras usually have a web interface, but in the past it was extremely antiquated software that required Windows, IE, Active-X and some questionable security settings in the browser. It's always weird when someone has all the pieces to make a really good product and they can't quite get there. I wonder if it is a disconnect on privacy because of the lack thereof in China where the cameras are made.
