Anyone have a maverick with a 500mm .30 barrel? I have a 700mm .25 & .30 and I’m liking the .25 slug set up better and am thinking of trading my longer .30 for a short one to be used as a compact pellet/light slug gun with my 580cc bottle and tanto (tatsu? I always mix them up). Interested in hearing peoples experience with it. Thanks!

So your looking to make your sniper into a compact? I have the compact 500mm in .30 and so far am happy with it. Sorry I can’t remember what the JSB 45 grn are shooting at but they and the FX hybrids shoot about the same size group at 45 yards. The reg came set at 150 bar. I have less than 3 mags through it . Just been too darn cold and snowy and I find I grab my Leshiy 2 in .30 more when I feel like shooting at something. I’m wanting to get the slug power kit when it becomes available which should really make this platform shine. one thing you have be aware is the size of the moderator when using a Bottle larger than the 300cc that ‘comes with the compact. I put the Donny FL Ronin moderator and my 480cc bottle from my .22 Crown and the 480cc bottle just clears. The moderator that came with the Maverick compact is too large. I talked to Donny and asked if he had a 2” extension that would attach to the Maverick shroud but he didn’t have anything. You can get one made for your 580 bottle to fit but it would add another 3 to 4 inches to the 500mm barrel so you might as well go with the 600mm barrel from the VP model.

Thanks for the reply man. I forget which one it is but the shorter version of the koi would fit I’m pretty sure. Have you chronied it yet to see what kind of velocity and power you get out of the 500mm barrel and hybrid slugs?

I did chronograph it but I can’t remember. I am also playing with the Leshiy 2 and I get them confused. I’m not even going to guess as I don’t want to give you bogus information. I can tell you the FX Hybrids are a good 50 to 60 FPS slower than the pellets. I just got some 50 grain JSB to try. That’s enough weight and fpe for hunting groundhogs . just confirmed I made a mistake on my original reply. The moderator from my Crown was the Tonto not the Ronin. Don’t know if it is the same size as the Koi. A lot of guys complain about their FX .30 Impacts guns being loud and are not happy with the smaller diameter Donny FL’s. The Maverick and Leshiy are my first .30 caliber Airguns. I didn’t think the Maverick was too bad with the supplied Donny FL moderator but I don’t have close neighbors. The slugs hitting the target are still louder and the hammer slap is quite noticeable over my other guns. The Leshiy 2 on the other hand is quite loud in .30 as I have it tuned hot and I have a Huma coming to try on it. I expect the hi power slug kit to make it even louder.

I just tried my Donny FL Tonto on my Maverick. I can’t hear any difference from the one that came with the gun so I’m happy now I know I can run the 480 bottle from my Crown with no problem.
