3 Weeks With the FX Wildcat MKIII Sniper .25 Accessories, Mods, Tune, & Accuracy

This is a very useful thread, thanks for taking the time. I am completely out of patience waiting for my .25 MkIII to get to me in Los Cabos.

With all this extra power available with simple mods I wonder if FX will consider adapting the .35 liners and an 800mm barrel to work on the Wildcat? Why not?

.35 ammo is quite heavy, and the FX Impact’s power capability by design is a tier above the Wildcat MKIII’s power capacity, IMO.. Idk?

Speaking of Wildcat Sniper MKIII power I should update you guys on my latest chronograph velocities. After a couple of days things have settled in on the MKIII and I see a power jump. Again my regulator is unchanged @ 135 bar and the same hammer spring tension (power #7). The Huma dual transfer must have smoothed out from a number of shots, causing a true representation of the power gain from the combined plenum extensions and dual transfer port. The initial chronograph numbers where taken immediately after the TP installation, these are current. 👇🏽

The dual TP gain was actually 20 to 25 fps for both pellets and slugs. Here they are.

Pretty close to FX’s posted claim of up to 70fpe for the .25 caliber Wildcat MKIII Sniper.

This is a great post! I’m new to the forum, and new to PCP guns. I just took the plunge, and have a WC MKIII on the way. I should receive it Friday. I will greatly benefit from all the info you provided here. I would love to know how you installed the Accutac rail on your stock. T-nuts? Direct threading? Thanks in advance.

You just ordered a MK3 Wildcat Sniper? Where did you find one in stock and what caliber? People have been waiting months on a list for one. Myself being one of them. WTF

Before I state this… *Disclaimer*

FX probably set your Wildcat MKIII up perfectly from the factory. You don’t have to change anything and just shoot it as it is.

Now then. There are so many ways to do this but this is my way, and I am only sharing it because you asked me. I like to help people out.

@ whatever AMP regulator pressure you set your Wildcat on

(On power #7)

Quarter turns on the adjuster at a time (counter clockwise), then chronograph a few shots.

Is the speed increasing?

You want just enough hammer tension to reach the MKIII’s highest velocity with the AMP regulator’s pressure setting. No wasted air! Wasted air causes inaccuracies and poor efficiency.

Quarter turns are the moves you make then chronograph a couple shots, whether adjusting up or down. Find the top speed while power level # 7 is selected.

Now, here comes the efficiency part…

When and after you find the highest speed ( on power level # 7) Turn your HST wheel down to power level # 6. Take a few shots over the chronograph on power #6. You should see a 10 to 20 fps slower velocity. If you don’t, then you have got too much hammer spring tension. In other words you are adjusted too far out, which wastes air.

Dial it back… (clockwise) Quarter turns and take a few shots (Over the chrony) on power #7 and power #6. Until you see a 10 to 20 fps difference between power #6 and #7.

*BUT* You still want power # 7 to be at or around that highest velocity that you where reaching. But power #6 is a slower velocity. 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 power levels should all gradually be slower and slower fps.

Make sense?

Look at my power levels 1 through 7. Using Air Arms 25.4 grain pellets?

Remember:

If there is no difference in speed of power 7 and 6 you’ve got too much hammer spring tension, and power 7 is wasting air. You want your highest setting to have just enough regulated air and hammer strike (tension) to the valve to give you your top speed. Nothing more nothing less. Every lower setting will fall where they fall, but gradually get slower down to power level #1.
Thank you for posting this. I have been searching forever - .22 cal compact (non botttls)
My ref was set to 140 when I got it. I shoot JSB 18. I am shooting 880s on #1 wheel. I am not looking for power. I was not expecting this this fo shoot this hot. I want to save air, shoot around 800 period. I lowered the reg pressure not much change. If u were gonna set one up for efficiency would you do these same steps? Mine is so hot at -#1. It renders the wheel useless to me as my goal is ro make rifle super efficient
