100% SAME. I hear them in the trees and immediately start scanning for ones I can pick off. My neighbor's probably think I'm nuts, I'm always staring at the trees.

I dont know how many times I have watched a starling in a tree 20 yds away and almost hear no noise. They sound very low like they are farther away and other times be really loud. So I agree they can be like a ventriloquist.
