2nd stage trigger adjustment, LGV

After shooting my HW77 all week and getting imo amazing groups with the H&N Greens it was the LGVs turn to be let out of the safe. I didn’t realise how much I was spoiled by the 77s trigger. My LGV trigger felt very heavy and it took me a lot of shots to attain good groups again. Now I had unscrewed the second stage a fare bit when I bought the airrifle but this time I removed it altogether. There was a slight improvement in weight but not enough.

I don’t think the removal of this adjustment screw will damage anything but I need do something to lessen the weight even more. I have read about installing a longer screw but am unsure of the measurements. Can anyone assist please.

Gary, here is some info. I will see if I find more.

I bought the Rowan Engineering trigger, was expensive. Krale sells an upgrade trigger as well for much less, but shipping may be costly?

Frankly, I kinda wish I would have left it alone. I learned a lot though. Who knows. Anyway, good luck.

I shaped the screw point to to a round convex point using the Dremel accessory and polished the point with 600 grit emory cloth. My son had a R.C fuel line I used for a washer. The mode was easy and effective.

Thank you very much gentlemen for this assistance. I looked on eBay Australia and I can only find stainless screws. They are a little softer then steel I’m told but I’ll order them if I can’t find any next time I’m in town.

Im wondering how this longer screw which is the first stage adjustment can improve the crispness of the trigger pull.

Thanks again

Gary

The actual problem with these triggers is that the second stage screw is too close to the sear pin thus not allowing enough leverage to make for a light trigger.

I had picture of my mod but lost them when photobucket got greedy, but what I did was drill a hole in the trigger further away from the pin and threaded a screw into that hole which became the modified the second stage screw. It afforded more leverage to the sear and made the pull weight as good as my great TX200 trigger.

Even the "tuning trigger" doesn't move its second stage screw away from the sear pin and all the adjusting in the world will not get that second stage pull as light as it could be, if light is what you want.
