.25 polymag vs squrriel vs 2x4

.25 m-rod with polymag at 26 yards went through the squirrel into a 2x4. I would have thought a little more mushroom but I don’t have a chrono so I’m not sure of the power it’s putting out. I thought I would share since I was able to recover

26 yards is pretty close and a squirrel is not a lot of mass, so it's understandable that it would pass through with little mushrooming.

Thanks understand that but once it hit the 2x4 it would have done more but I guess the squirrel slowed it down a lot. I will have to shoot more to test. Oh darn. Lol

It’d be interesting to set some pieces of 2x4 at different distances and see what happens.

Did it get stuck in the 2x4 or bounce off. Because i think that is pretty good muchroom for an inch thick head.

It got stuck into the 2x4. I dug it out. I may set up some 2x4’s after this rain moves out.

Expanding pellets often act strangely in wood (little or no expansion). A number of posts have covered this on AGN in the past.

Since it stuck in the wood you really dont know if it expanded at all after going through its head. Usually mine look like an evidence collection unit with meat, blood and fur in the hp.
