Crosman .25 Marauder for coyotes?

Is the new model .25 Marauder powerful enough for humane killing of coyotes?
Depends on the muzzle energy, ive got an old gen1 mrod 25 and id say no, but there's a video of a very effective 177 sub 12 headshot on 1.

Is your mrod tuned up? I know mine only likes jsb king pellets and that's the only time it's above 30 fpe thanks to the crazy gm choke. Unpopular opinion.... Try it, see how it goes.

Your best input would come from somebody that owns one, which is not me, but I don't think it would work well. Another member with airgun coyote experience recommended 50 fpe minimum which seems reasonable to me. I don't think a Marauder can get there but I could be wrong.

I recently tuned my 25 caliber Avenger to just over 50 fpe shooting 34 grain JSB pellets about 830 fps. It seems like a better minimum coyote airgun. A body shot would probably kill a coyote but it would run a lot. With a good brain shot death would be immediate.

I own one and don't think it's a super capable 25 for game that size, i was worried about my 74 fpe 22 until I saw a guy(search it on agn) who keeps the skulls and shows you what headshots at what power level can do. Then there's the pigeon coop, sub 12 177 springer video on here that rattled what I thought I knew.

I won't chime on on ethics, but my opinion of the mrod 25 as I know it is based on reading the room of agn as a whole or id be advocating some less popular tactics depending on how problematic this yote is.

How good of a sniper with that mrod are you and how close can you call that dog in? is probably the better question.

It will definitely kill one. Humanely? That’s a completely different discussion because with any .25 airgun you are tip toeing on the edge of humanely based on your ability to place shots perfectly. No .25 airgun shooting slug or pellets has the ability to plant them unless it’s a brain shot. And a pellet to the brain does the same thing as a slug to the brain. It will be up to you to know the max range you can place a shot to the brain if humanely is priority. Humanely for me is a heart lung shot with a slug. Their carcass is always laying within 100 yards of where I shot them. I’m not shooting them in a neighborhood environment so recovery is far less important to me than just knowing one more of those things is dead.

In .25, if a gun won’t shoot slugs, use a 33.95gr pellet and get it cruising at least 850fps. Then keep your shots where you have total confidence.

No…Unless you have a .357 Magnum on your hip..
I like your style, there's no kill like overkill.

If it's a problem, like a yote already took some animals.... I can say a lung shot with a 22 cb (20 grain round nose around 700 fps) will do the job...... Eventually. I don't think it passes the ethics test however.

Considering regular 22 Long Rifle is right on the edge, nope.
We have used 22 long rifle hollow points for some time but often takes a number of shots to dispatch a coyote. Going a bit bigger is much better for one shot kills.
With an air rifle of this calibibre - you are in questionable territory. This even though I have nailed three with my .22 air rifles. All closer in and head shots.
Neighbors who do a lot of shooting like their 22/250's a lot.
