AEA 25 inches between shots, not grouping

I'm shooting at 25 yards for the first time with this gun after installing the scope, but the pellets are not grouping, there is a separation of up to 25 inches between them. Any idea what's going on?

The airgun is AEA ELEMENT regulated

The most likely cause for such poor grouping is clipping. Try it without the shroud, and/or inspect for evidence the pellets are contacting baffles or the shroud end cap.

The holes at 3 and 7 look like they are tumbling compared to one on the far left. Do you have a chronograph to see how fast you are chucking them? Might be too fast.

It may be the way it’s worded but your post reads like this only started happening after scope install. Was it shooting fine before or is this your first time shooting it?

I think clipping checks all the boxes. At that distance, and with those deviations, you'd just about see the crosshairs sloshing around inside. Typically scope issues result in bi-modal shot pattern (2 groups) or at least stringing in a single direction. The randomness and hole shape though are consistent with clipping.

Like sb327 said, your wording can be interpreted several ways. If first time shooting brand new gun, I'd check for loose parts, possible manufacturer neglect, or screws loosened during shipping. Suspect bad scope if first time shooting, after scope change, but shot well with previous scope. If gun shot well, then sudden poor grouping, followed by a scope change to investigate, likely damage to internals resulting in clipping, not scope related. WM

the gun and scope are brand new, this is the first time shooting.

I have one chronograph and I will check the speed.

Try single loading to rule out a magazine issue

In October 2022, new JTS Airacuda Max .25 arrived from Pyramyd Air. Cleaned barrel with PatchWorm/Ballistol, installed scope. Loud clang and accuracy, similar to yours, resulted. Later determined installer failed to tighten stack bolt down on 5-piece baffle arrangement inside shroud between muzzle and end cap. Pellet deformed, after hitting loose parts, spiraling while attempting to self-stabilize which led to zero accuracy. WM
