.25 H&N Crow Magnum

Have you found any other .25 pellets to shoot well in your gun? If not, it could be your barrel is a little over bored.

I had a Beeman Kodiak .25 that shot only JSB Exact Kings with decent accuracy. It sprayed everything else I tried including Kodiaks and FTT's. Only the JSB's could be pushed through the bore and come out the muzzle with any signs of rifling in the lead. Some other pellets practically fell through the bore with only the weight of a cleaning rod behind them. AoA told me the JSB's were a little larger in diameter than other brands.

There isn't a gun in my stable that really likes the H&N Crows. Oh, out to about 25 yrds my Impact M2 500 mm will make reasonable groups but nothing to write home about or count on for an accurate 'kill shot.' I have found that all of my .25 cal rifles will really shoot the H&N Baracuda Hunters (27.47gr) & Baracuda Hunter Extremes (28.24gr) well. Both are my go-to hunting pellets.

HogKiller,

if you look at the Crow Magnums — they are the aerodynamic equivalent of a flying ashtray.... 😄

Meaning, high velocities can mess with them much easier than with domed pellets.... (Try them at lower velocities....)

Of course, they also do to your quarry's vitals what a flying ashtray in a bar does to an opponent's face.... 😉

Yeah, that's sort of what I figured. The ashtray part, I've tried lower speeds and it's even worse, 900fps and they may hit a squirrel at 25 yards, bumped them up a tad and got a bit better. I thought I'd just throw it out there.

r1lover: nah, my gun is fine, I can do very tidy groups at 50 yards, I sort of figured that flying ashtrays nod to Matthias, are better in a slingshot. I'll just use them for playing around i.e. tuning, or sell them so somebody I don't like.

H&N Crow Magnums are my primary pesting pellet out of a Maverick .25 Compact 500mm. I like the sound that big ole flying ash tray makes on impact. I get usable accuracy out of them at different velocities. Shooting 930 fps dialed up to 7. About 600 fps dialed to 4. I mostly shoot it set to 4 for starlings but will dial it up to 7 sometimes for crows although I've shot a lot of them at 4. I'm running 137 on the second reg and the dual (slug) port in the barrel.
