25 gr jsb pellet question

HI I just got a new gun it is a 22 maverick , I always hunt with22 calibers here but my choice of ammo was the trusty JSB18 grfor close range around 900 fsp in most tunes I got ,

But I mostly use slugs like the Knockouts or HN 25 27 gr l or my favorite 25 gr and my MP 36 gr slug for hi power tunes ,

SO I want to really use the 25 gr redesigns in this and my prophet , so can you guys tell me what FPS is most accurate for you guys , I only shot a few clips off my deck so far cause I am healing from ankle surgery ,

I'm pretty happy with them out to at least 130 yards with the 25.4s MRDs going 850fps from my 12 land and groove unchoked LW barrel. 

I know many who swear by them more in the 920-980fps realm, but seems to be from polygonal rifled barrels that they do best that fast.

I use them on my impact with the 700 slug liner A. It's a laser with the redesigned jsbs. Im shooting them around 840-850 FPS. I will try to do some groups tomorrow with it.

1000-1005FPS has been the absolute tightest for me when using FX barrels. They were also pretty accurate with choked LW barrels at much slower velocities (840-850).

most pellet guns shoot well around 850-900fps and that keeps holdovers consistent regardless of pellet, weight, or gun .. way it is ..

The JSB Monsters are a different animal

Most Red Wolf HPs like them around 975 FPS give or take... That would be power level 8 on a HeliBoard. I've tried level 9 around 1005 FPS but there is no benefit and it uses much more air, plus I think much over 975 its more susceptible to wind...

My RAW HM1000x .22 shoots the MRDs at 930-940; optimum velocity for 100 yard BR scoring. Like Mike ( CC), my RW Safari .22 HP likes 970-975 FPS on medium power.

The RW HP's use LW poly barrels that seem to really like pushing the MRD's at 975ish for best long range accuracy. In testing mine extensively , there was a dramatic difference at 100 yards between the accepted wisdom of 880 to 900 for pellets and really ripping these. I've shot at small things in the wind all the way to 289 yards and they're still stable and predictable. They seem to be unique among pellets.

From a standard rifled barrel, I've not had the same experience. It MAY be possible that some can drive them hard and still get good accuracy ... I just haven't experienced it myself. All I've tested have been best at 880 to 900. Can't say that is extensive or definitive though. I only have 1 smoothtwist and no smoothtwistx in 22 so haven't tested them in those.
