Clean the casing, inside and out, with solvent, such as rubbing alcohol. Use a Q-tip for the inside ;)

Glue on the o-rings, It doesn't take much glue. Use the #5 0-ring at the groove at the primer end.

Cut 2 strips of plastic from a water bottle and glue them inside the casing. This holds the cap in place.

Casing can get free from a shooting range. Super glue cost about $5. O rings usually sell in packs for about $3. Since needed 2 different size that would be $6. Spray paint cost about $3. So total cost to make it is $14. Not even close to .25 cents. Lol.

I'd say 95% of us have all of this stuff laying around the house from left over parts and projects. So I'd say the the true cost could be free.

Good write up! Reminds me of the old days rolling around will 9mm casting on my bike Schrader valves for caps....just living the dream

Yep, most of us have the items laying around, so the cost of parts is about .25 cents.

I made something similar using a spent casing. I popped the primer out and drilled through the pocket with a small drill bit. Took 20# mono fishing line, tied a knot at one end. Then threaded it through the casing from the mouth end. Then added a second knot and pushed it into the empty primer pocket. Added a loop to the other end of the line. Depending on the rifle having a shroud, barrel-band or other attachment point, I hooked the loop to a mounting point.

Can do the same thing with a carburetor vacuume plug. It works really well. Take a needle with fishing line and thread it through the plug. No need to drill a hole. Tie a knot at one end and pull it up into the plug. Make a loop with the tag-end and hook it to a mounting point of the gun. Not lost, not in the way and not any $$$
