2289 Range day..

I brought the 2289 (Drifter) to the range today for the first time. Shooting at 7 yards (4 pumps) had dime size grouping. Shooting at 15 yards (5 pumps) had 3/4" grouping. Then I decided to try the 25 yards (6 pumps) and had mostly 2.5" grouping with a few flyers. I was using the peep sight shooting from a rest. I was impressed with the results considering my eye sight is not the best and its a completely stock. Shooting at 25 yards was definitely what I would consider the max I could see shooting with using the iron sights. I was impressed with the amount of pumps I had to do to reach the target and have the POA and POI be pretty close, from what I could tell anyways. As I was leaving I thought to myself; why didn't I get one sooner??

Got the drifter kit a while back; I lllooovvveee it! I've since then got the steel breech kit, put a small tasco scope on, and a silencer from Buck-rail.com. went ahead and drilled out the shoulder stock to accept the pistol grip screws for less wobble. Started doing a camo work over on it. Fitted a cloth over the shoulder stock as well.🤪got new bolt probes in the mail. Thinking of getting the max out valve/piston combo...🤤

I put some helicopter tape on the shoulder stock on the obvious areas to tighten up the tiny bit of "wobble". I'm going to use it in its stock form for a while (1000 pellets) to see what "mods" I want to do, notice I said want and not need :) because it was a blast to shoot just the way it came. I've heard some complain about the FO front sight but I like the front sight. I know its not as pinpoint as the one on the 2300S but I can definitely see it better in certain light conditions and I'm a fan of FO sights anyways.

So I may it to the range shot @ 25yds 5 shot groups 8X. The new bags helped for sure I like them. Results five of the groups were above 1.25 CTC one of the groups was right at 1". The two best were one was .71 and the other .59 I'm sure the 2289 can do better with someone else behind the wheel 🤷‍♂️ If I shoot a 5 shot group at/below .50 I would be very satisfied. The individuals who shoot 1" groups at 100yds I salute you.

I agree about the 1" groups at 100 yds., but whom ever did it wasn't using a 2289 drifter in it's stock configuration, I'll stand by that.

🤔😅how "stock"?🤣
I've got a steel breech and extended bolt probe.🥴
Haven't even tried 100yrd with it😄
I'll put it on my to try list though🤪🤙
Please let us know how you make out with it, I have a 2289 drifter kit also, mine has the standard stock quick release carbon fiber wrapped shoulder stock, 14.5" barrel, plastic breech, only mods are an old style pump handle (carbon fiber wrapped) and an older front sight to replace the oversized fiber optic sight that came with the gun.
I also have a modded 2240 Co2 Crosman Carbine, that one has a steel breech, 14.5" barrel, shoulder stock, and is topped with a Hawke Variable 2x7x32 AO scope, both the 2289 and 2240 have home brewed trigger jobs.
Both shoot amazingly well for their price point, but they are not hundred yard shooters

My Drifter has been so heavily modded, it's not even the same gun. 24" tuned barrel, moderator and brass extended bolt probe from MAC1. A 362 Powerplant with a flat top piston and valve. A wider delrin port. Polished lead into the rifling. Stock from Buck Rail. Pump arm and grips were made in my shop. Everything is sealed, bolt to breech, breech to barrel, whole upper part sealed to the lower. Powerful and accurate. 760 fps. These are 3 shot groups at 50 feet.
