.22 wadcutter (flat head ) V.S. Squirrel brain

I used to think .177 wad's made mess out of squirrel brains . Just protecting the bird feeder i thought i would try the HW77 long in .22 with H&N Sport wadcutter @ 13.73 GR.

First off the pellet never stopped till it hit a tree about 6 feet behind the feeder and there was brain matter stuck to the tree also . Maybe ,just maybe, the Squirrel had the W in its brain from the phrase WTF ? I do have my doubts .
This is good , now i do not have to dig the .177 out if it didn't go clean through so i can feed the fox family safely .

Several years back a friend gave me some Daisy wadcutters he had found . He only had .177 guns so he gave the partial tin to me . I had my stock Avenger at the time & was at the farm popping HOSPs one day & thought I'd try the wadcutters out. I took a few sighters at some knots on scrap wood at 25yrds . They hit so close to my zero I only had to make minor adjustments so I loaded my mags & went after some "clients". I used up that tin in a few days between the sparrows , starlings & rats. Never weighed them or tried 'em at longer than 30 yrds.

"Wad's" are defiantly shorter ranges , at least in my springers, they lose it past 40 something yards . Im not into tuning PCP guns but i imagine the correct tune could squeeze a bit farther shots .

All my wax beans came up this morning. The yard is fenced. The garden is fenced. Three dogs have to go out every ten minutes.

All that and the bunnies still get to the sprouts. Only the wax beans.

The Prod with a red dot and mounted light will be on patrol tonight with H&N Sports.

Two of them in the neighbor’s yard right now watching.
