*Check out Steve's Pro Tune #8 compared to the OEM tune.

Let us know if you've got one and what you think!

Hello Mr. Steve,

Hope you are well. It's amazing how far

entry level products have become. If I

suddenly had the chance to enter the next

big competition, I would consider using

this remarkably accurate air rifle.

As a survivalist, I also can appreciate

the Gauntlet 2, as it has an easily removable

air reservoir and extra ones you can carry.

Nevertheless, this upgrade appears to be

of good quality, and with a Will Piatt upgrade,

this could be a long term reliable hunting tool.

Hi

I don't know if I am posting this question in the correct place, if you have any answers I would greatly appreciate it, otherwise if I should post under a different topic please let me know where..

so I have I have been told the predecessor to the avenger in 22 caliber, was back when they came with open sights or you could put on a scope. mine is named American tactical Nova Liberty.. I only use open sights and I can get a group in 2" at 160 yards.. after that they seem to spread out a lot..

#1 so I have only shot Crossman 14 grain and JSB 18 grain pellets.. I have not shot slugs, so first question is if I were to get slugs it appears that they are in .216, .217 and I think I saw .218.. could someone please let me know what size the avenger uses? also I don't know about the various types, but pyramid air has a large selection.. so please any recommendations on what one or ones I should try.

#2 so I don't know that much about ballistics but it appears that if you shoot a slug from a 22 caliber it's got about the same energy as a standard 25 caliber, assuming that the fps are kept the same..then if you move up to 25 caliber and shoot slugs they compare again fairly close to the same energy as a 30 caliber pellet.. so if all that is true, when choosing between the 22 slugs and standard 25 pellets, if you keep the velocity the same and the energy is the same, which is more accurate long range.. I guess the same thing would be true in 25 vs 30?

I have not shot the gauntlet gen 2, it's tempting, especially when they release the 30 caliber.. but I really like the side lever action better than the bolt.. but the gauntlet does have the larger tank.. so any recommendations on 22 vs 25? as both are available in the avenger and the gauntlet?? as far as accuracy? and any thoughts about the gauntlet gen 2 coming out in 30 caliber? And if anyone knows how I can get open sights for either gun would be great.. otherwise I will have to machine a front sight and mount and hopefully get a Williams vaneer notch sight for the rear dovetail.

I don't hunt, so a occasional ground squirrel ot timber rattler is about it.. mostly just target shooting on metal or paper targets..

I wanted to get another PCP and I was trying to decide what caliber and what brand.. I don't have much area in the woods here to go out over 100 yards currently and I do like to target shoot but I was also thinking about a bit more power just in the rare case I needed to knock something larger down, like a rabid coon, or coyote.. it's been years since I had to do that, had a rabid coon come in broad daylight and attack my cattle dog and the next day it was me, and lucky I was close to a fairly big stick to fight him off until my cattle dog put him up a tree.. I didn't know if the 22 PCP would do the job so I got out the old Henry golden boy..

hopefully it never happens again, fortunately I didn't get hurt and my dog was mostly ok and fortunately he was recently vaccinated for rabies and he was fine.. but now they changed the laws in our state, so firearms have to be kept in a safe.. so the quickest thing to grab is the air rifle..

E. Grinspon

just a quick question here, do you have the gauntlet gen 2 and the avenger.. and what is your opinion.. I'm trying to decide whether to get the avenger in .25 caliber or wait for the gauntlet gen 2 in 30 caliber?

I have read that the gauntlet has a few problems like hard to cock.. and it seems like the avenger is pretty much trouble free..

any advice from anyone who has the gauntlet gen 2 would be great.. that is assuming that the.30 caliber is the same basic rifle.. and at this point if I was just choosing between the two brands in .25 it would be the avenger.. but I have no experience with the gauntlet..

thanks for any information

Steve dude! Once again, thanks for all the effort, really appreciate it.

I already tried several of your tunes on my maverick, and finally got it to shoot slugs well.
So happy with these Avenger tunes, have not been successful with slugs yet, so I will definitely try some of your tunes.

Ps: I really like and recognize the OCD placement of the pellets and slugs on your shooting table.... mine looks just like that! LOL!!

Kind regards,
Bob.

So I have two Maverick compacts chambered in 30 and 22 cal. I have the sniper barrel kit for the 22 and the medium weight hammer installed and the heavy hammer in my kit. I converted the 22 to the sniper and with the medium weight hammer, shooting NSA 27.5 gr .217 at 950fps and it is a 100yd gun. The 30 cal compact shooting a 44.75gr Hades pellet is also 100 yd gun sending these pellets downrange at 880fps. I love my FX Mavericks but when looking to round out my arsenal with a 177, I could either get a 177 kit and convert the 22 but for almost the same price I could get an entirely new 177 rifle. And that rifle looks like the AVA Bullpup in 177. This decision is a hard one to make because its made in China, but no one else comes close to this price point, performance and adjustability. The 177 will give me the ability to varmint hunting in area where possible damage to equipment or structures would be of great concern. So I would need something that would be very reliable, highly tunable, and accurate for different situations and it looks like the AVA Bullpup is the answer. So here I go taking the plunge once again, now to decide which vendor to buy from.
