If I had to get rid of all my guns and all my calibers and only keep one, it would be a .22. Here is why. I never had to search for more power out of any .22 I bought. Usually turned them down a little. The larger plenum revolution wasn’t started by someone wanting to shoot .22 pellets faster. More shots per fill and more pellets per tin. Backyard critters fall just as quick being hit with 18gr as they do with 25gr with a slightly quieter pop. When it comes to raccoons, you have to shoot them in the head with a .25 just like you do with a .22 or you aren’t getting them.

Yep, this power craze is what it is. I get if you're out west and make a living pesting. Where you need to shoot out to and past 100 yards. But where I'm at, it's woods. I really don't need anything that shoots beyond 70 yards. Most shots are going to be around 25-50 yards. 40fpe+ just means lower shot count and more noise. And even 30+ isn't necessary. 35 yields a very flat (to me) trajectory with 16gr

It's all personal preference, style, manufacturer, caliber, make your mind up and enjoy it. If you're anything like many here....including myself, you'll have more than one.😉 Good luck choosing.

I started my pcp journey with a Marauder .22, basic gun, and hand pump, no frills. It shot alright for my backyard shooting, but would get fliers from every mag, no matter the ammo. Kept reading about the "more consistent" accuracy of higher priced guns and took some time researching, but jumped in after I sold the Marauder package.

The Condor SS .22 caught my eye, for their LW barrel, power wheel and wide range of ammo possibilities and gun accessories, so I now have one. A good shooter once you find the best pellet and power wheel set-up. Made my longest kill-shot of an invasive specie bird at lasered 97yds with the Condor.....quite possibly lucky shot 😁

Decided I wanted a side lever repeater, no more bolts, bought a Weihrauch HW110 ST .177 - Nice gun, quite accurate with 10gr ammo it likes, whisper quiet with its' moderator. First impression, a bit heavy, but it is composite machined receiver along with the coated wood stock. Great backyard shooter.

Next purchase, an FX Dreamline Classic .22 with Donny Tanto,, this rifle MAY be my last buy, it's a real accurate rifle with most any pellets I've tried. As I get older, 68 in couple months, trying to simplify more and more. I don't care to get into the slug shooting fray, even though they do have appeal, I just don't shoot the ranges slugs were designed for. Although I have been watching for members posts on their Condors shooting slugs.... I could possibly see myself setting up my Condor as I longer range slug shooter. We'll see.

It would only need to try and limit the amount off passthrough really. I do not shoot toward houses or cars and always try to ahve a backstop but i am always afraid of a passthrough hitting someone or even a child scares the heck outta me really. I have always read that the .25 allows more mushroom effect and effectively stops most passthroughs.

I am used to high power powder rifles so it is a little bit different but most the same goes. normally larger projectile that can expand stops sooner and makes a larger wound channel.

Thanks
