.22 Maximus review

I finally had time to shoot the .22 Maximus yesterday and today. I put about 250 pellets down range. It's a great gun in my opinion. It took 5 shots to zero the scope I put on it. They started in the upper right with 3 shots in a decending vertical line, then 2 shots marching left toward the bullseye. After those you'd think I only shot a half-dozen more times because the next 25 shots went into a hole about the size of a nickel. That became boring so I started shooting at my spinner about 40-50 yards away. It would spin the small target twice, the middle target once, and the big target would just away. I was very impressed with the consistency over all the shots. I didn't see the point of impact drop much if at all until the pressure dropped under 1000psi. I forgot to count how many shots I got per fill because I was having so much fun, but I'd guess it was 25-30 shots per fill. Pumping from 1000psi to 2000psi was a breeze compared to my marauder. The bolt is stiff to cock. My boy wasn't able to pull it back on his own. After 250 rounds my fingers are a bit bruised. Loading pellets isn't as easy as I'd like either. With a scope on the gun getting them seated correctly is tedious. It's easier using open sights. Out of the box the gun is about as loud as my .22lr Savage model 64. It doesn't require hearing protection but it is far from stealthy. On the whole, I'm pleased. The gun is accurate, light, inexpensive and stupid simple.

I am considering one of these in .177... thanks for your take on this rifle.
Yes.... I do own more expensive guns but for some reason I really like my .22 Benjamin Discovery to play around with. And I wonder often about this Maximus...
My Discovery is very accurate up to 40 yards and maybe more.... and keeps right up with my BSA R10 at this distance (which is super accurate).
I dare not try to guess the number of squirrel I have shoot with this this Discovery.....
I getting to the point in my life that simple is better..... and wonder if a Maximus .177 is in my future...
