This morning, in less than ideal conditions, I shot three 10 shot groups each of hand weighed JSB 18.13 Gr, the standard length Predator Polymag 16.00, and the Predator Polymag Short 15.89 grain pellets, just to see how they would compare, especially in a cross wind.
When I made the target up earlier in the morning, the weather channel indicated the wind was about 7 mph as indicated on the target. By the time I had enough light to shoot, it had picked up considerably and was indicated to be 10 to 12 mph with gusts above that. As you can see by the target, the wind was coming in from the left of the target.
All 30 shots were fired within a few minute window, and with the wind conditions seemingly about the same.
As expected, the JSBs totally outperformed, in terms of accuracy, the Predator Polymags. All shots were from an exact 50 yards. My experience is that once one moves inside of 35 yards, there is no problem placing a killing shot (inside of a quarter sized group) with the Polymags, but once you move out to 50 yards, they really tend to open up.
One of the things I wanted to know was whether or not there was a discernible difference between the standard and short Polymags. At lease via this brief exercise, there didn't appear to be much to me in terms of the way they performed.
This exercise only served to once again validate other similar exercises to date.
