Shot a collared dove with the .22 Hades. It went down, but not as quick as I wanted. My Leshiy is only shooting them at about 760 fps. Do I need more velocity to get better terminal performance?

I run mine at 920 FPS, but I would say you might want to be between 850 and 900 try for the best groups you can get around those speeds.

I hunt pigeons inside of dairy barns therefore my Dreampup is tuned down to 765 and is terminal out to my furthest kill of 93 yards. I rarely get pass through with Hades like I did with domes.

I was expecting the Hades to be more forgiving of shot placement, more like a wadcutter. Unfortunately I’m finding they behave much more like a dome. That’s probably advantageous to their accuracy, which impressed me. But even at a muzzle velocity over 900fps, recovered pellets show almost no expansion, and the apparent effect on the quarry is similar to a dome. Good placement anchors them, slightly off the mark and they’re going to make it some distance before expiring.

I guess I fell for the hype. Ted Bier(Ted’s Holdover) said it was like a blender going through the insides of the quarry. Not my experience at all, that’s why I wondered if I was shooting it too slow

Me too. I should clarify I've only used them on furry critters. As I recall, Ted's video was entirely birds so that could amount to some difference. I doubt that would totally tip the scales though, and it sounds like you're not seeing a compelling difference either.

I think at the range I usually shoot at (25-35 yards) I would do better with a plain old wadcutter.
