Hi all,
I've been spending way too much time tuning and not enough time shooting. I've read everything there is to read on tuning.
Let me begin by saying, I realize you get what you pay for. I know the AVA is practically, if not, the cheapest PCP air rifle on the market. I'm on my second copy in 31 days. The first copy would not tune for anything. Trust me on that one. No matter where the regulator and/or hammer spring were set the fps were all over the place.
2nd copy: Will not Economy tune for anything. All over the place. I experienced reg creep up and down if you can believe that. So I gave up on attempting to get as many shots as possible to a fill and opted for the "Pro-tune - 1800ish on the regulator and a couple of turns in on the hammer spring. She finally stabilized! Shot count be damned. It's not worth the aggravation, especially since I can refill it in a minute with my Yong Heng.
I know it sounds like I'm bashing the rifle. That's not my intention. I'm bashing my crazy persistence attempting to make this rifle something it's not.
I'm keeping it. The best distance I have in my backyard is about 65' (feet) - 70' (feet) and I can place pellet on pellet.
