22 caliber 1:18 twist barrel owners

Hey everyone I have a MMHF barrel with 1:18 twist and have been trying to get the JSB 25.39gr to shoot out past 50 yards accurately. I've tried shooting them at 850-870fps and didn't have very good results so I turned the gun up and not they are shooting 890-910 fps and it didn't seem to improve anything in fact it might have been worse today. I'm just curious if anyone out there is getting them to perform out of this twist or if I should just opt out and try some lighter ones. On a side note I did shoot some hades pellets over the chrony and they are smoking coming in at 1060-1075. I re-sighted the scope in for them and weather permitting I plan on trying them out in the morning. I also ordered some 18gr Air Arms pellets to try out as well since there aren't any 18gr JSB's available right now. Any info is greatly appreciated. TIA.

Its not the twist rate making those launch horribly, I'll state that much...its within reason for that pellet. Not all pellets agree with all barrels though...The MMHF I believe was designed around the 18.1's in 22 cal. YMMV

Do you know the OAL of the 25.4? Based on my guess of .32" I believe the best twist rate range for this particular pellet is 16"-19".

.343 is what I just measured. I have a sneaking suspicion I should have went with Jim's 1:14 twist to shoot these heavy pellets. I know when I ordered he told me the 1:22 was for the light stuff, 1:18 was for the heavier stuff and the 1:14 was for the heavy, heavy pellets. I was trying to speed up the velocity to compensate for the slower twist. I'm gonna play around with those hades pellets tomorrow and see if they do worth a hoot at that high speed. Then maybe I will either speed the heavy pellets up some more or possibly slow then down around 825-850 fps.

What velocity are you shooting them at Mercado? I think there is some range where they will shoot good but I'm yet to find it and at 9 bucks for 200 pellets testing can get a little spendy. Were skipping the range today because it is nasty out, maybe sometime later this week I will get out there and try these hades out at the high velocity. I keep thinking about the info I seen from RTI earlier this year where they were working on developing a very slow 1:32 twist barrel to shoot pellets at a very high velocity. Thanks for all the feed back.

Let me tell you this is not a exact science..se that rti is in developed of a high speed. 22 barrel 1-32 but I just goggle the twist rate on the .24" condor..I have one of the old barrels that came in the first batch and it could shoot accurately from predator gtos up to 100y in low wind and 40g boat tail 200y+ each pellet or slug at the speed needed..40g --940 fps same twist rate 1- 17.7 ..that why I keep testing things my self n not follow any hype..my .25 cricket is to 1- 17.7 and it shoot 44g acp bullet, with awesome accuracy..I almost sell it because I couldn't not find a slug that worked 120y+ now I will try to tune it for that bullet..you will not find anything about a cricket shooting 25 acp bullets nowhere...

So from what you guys are saying I'm not out of line thinking this pellets could be a performer in this gun. I didn't make it to the range today, it was too darned muggy for this fat kid. I want to see what those 15.89gr hades do at 1060fps just for kicks then I will try to up the power some more and see what I can get it to do.Thats good news to hear though because I just ordered 1200 more of those pellets this last weekend.
