22 cal Ultrashocks - terminal performance

JSB's "Flying Barrel" functions as a wadcutter, cutting a large permanent wound cavity into our quarry.

If you shoot if fast enough so you have an impact velocity of at least 800 or 850fps, it might expand — but you'll need a very powerful gun for this heavy clunker (25.39gr).

Here's hard data (all .22cal) I have collected:

🔶 Brinkerhoff did a penetration and expansion test in 10% ballistic gel. The impact velocity was 670fps (25FPE) — very realistic for a medium powered PCP, cf. pic.

🔶 Hajimoto did a HP comparison. Nicely done. Some of the impact velocities are unrealistically high. Your pellet in question penetrated all of 9" ballistic gel (20%!) and hit the wooden backstop, so the expansion data on this pellet is useless.

🔶 Pneumatic Detonation describes (and pictures! 😄) a hunting shot at a squirrel.

Impact velocity 790fps (35FPE)

Very effective, judging from the amount of intestines outside of the hide.
