Although I understand different rifles handle different pellets differently. But are jsb diabolo exact heavy .22 usually the best?

in general yes.
but,
ive found the jts dead center 18gn to be just as good and possibly better than the jsb 18's

Don't disregard the Crosman pellets, if your air gun likes them, you can buy three tins for the price of one jsb tin. I wish that Thay offered different grain weights.

H&N Barracuda 18's have been exceptional in everything I've put them through. Especially HW barrels.

Only one of my 5 guns prefers JSB pellets. The other 4 prefer H&Ns. I don't know of a way to tell other than shooting some.

Aa 16gr., jsb 18.13gr, crosman 14.3 are my go to's. Hades as well, but as far as expansion goes, more of a gimmick. Also speculate the hades have more drag

I would say most of the time but for some reason both my Ataman’s love the H&N’s the best in 18’s and 21gr

Just try different types of pellets in your gun is the best way of finding what your barrel likes.
I put some david nikkerson domed pellets through my kral np02 with a surprising result" as people dont rate them at all and they are cheap.

That pellet in the15.89 gr version has shot less than .5 at 50 and less than 1.9 at 100 yards. Weight sorted and lived with T9. That is 5 shot groups.

It seems that different guns and different barrels get different results using identical pellets. It has been my experience that taking the time to shoot different ones at different speeds if possible is the best way to find out which ones work best in your particular gun.
