22 cal optimal barrel length

No a benchrest gun, but I was so impressed by the accuracy of this little guy with a 15" bbl I got one on the way in .22.

The plus for longer barrels is, one can shoot at, lower reg pressures and have a smoother shot cycle at a higher velocity.

You can get more velocity out of a longer barrel with less wasted air coming out behind the pellet and messing up your accuracy. So you can shoot flatter and more accurately at longer ranges.

I was shooting mostly .5 inch groups at 100 yards at 740 to 960fps with my 700mm .25 and 34 to 36gr NSA and VK slugs. But it turned in a couple of MOA groups with the JSB 33.95 pellets as well. This is before I turned it into a .22 gun.

Still the truth is even a well tuned 500mm can still shoot near MOA at 100 yards.
