First, would you as a buyer be interested in purchasing a 22 cal slug that doesn't need blazing speed to effectively open up? When I mean effective, I mean slugs that open up in the upper teens to low 20s FPE range.
Okay this is a surprise surprise, but I am holding off on getting the RTI Prophet Performance Compact until end of year, and purchasing ctshooters Uragan Compact in .22 cal. Also, I thought to give slugs a try in UC but want it on the slugs effective on the lower power / speed limit for safety reasons. The only slugs I could think of are the Mako slugs made by Precision Ballistics out of the UK. PB makes slugs that are effective in the sub 12 FPE market in the UK in 177. I wanted to see if they make .22 cal slugs. I didn't see 22 cal slugs on their web page so I sent an email to find out if they did, websites aren't always up to date, as we all know.
Well, after about 30 minutes I received an email from Geoff at PB. He said PB does not, at this time, make slugs in 22 cal. However, they are thinking about it and asked me some market research. I said in the USA there would for sure be a market for the specs (as before) mentioned above, and would be safer for use in farm and closer spaced areas where a standard slug isn't. Apparently, Geoff and I are on the same page and I think many here are too. Geoff and I exchanged a few emails and so I thought to expand thoughts and post here.
So again, what do you think. Is there a market for 22 cal slugs that effectively expand in the in the mid upper teens to low 20s FPE range?
P.s. I don't know if the slugs can stabilize at the energy levels I want but I am thinking 50 yards and below use.
