.22 700mm Superior Heavy liner - .218 or .217 HN slugs?

I have a PP impact with the 700mm superior heavy liner and need to order some slugs.

Should I go with the .217 or .218 size? People have mentioned the liner being very "tight" so I'm leaning towards .217 but would love to hear from someone that has tried both and has experience. Also any comments on slug weight would be nice, since HN have them in several different weights.

.22 NSA 17g .216, 17g .217, and 23g .218 slugs all shot fine through my 700mm SSTX Heavy liner with no issues. The NSA 23g .218 had the tightest groups at 100yards. Not sure if it was the heavier weight or the .218 size or both?

Your probably going to have to experiment. I just got one in yesterday and plan to play around this weekend to see what shoots best in mine. I have high hopes the NSA 31gr will be the ticket.

Don’t need any special liners to shoot H&N slugs they perfect in stx standard liner

I have the standard Superior liner in my new Wildcat Mark 3 with the 700 Barrel and mine likes the 218 diameter they were sold out of the 217 diameter so I never got to try them. That being said the jsb Knockouts in 217 are like magic out of my Superior. Best so far

H&N 21 gr in .218 at 950+ works a treat in my 700 slug, YMMV, definitely test what your barrel likes.

Ouch. I got my liner from mundilar.net - they had plenty in stock when I ordered, and shipped really fast. Highly recommended.

I would test, but it's hard for me because where I live (Iceland) there's no way to get ammo without ordering it from abroad and it requires an authorization/permit from the authorities which costs about $50 per order. I'm trying to narrow down and just get a bunch of one size in maybe 2 different weights so I don't have to order again anytime soon.

After some further reading I went ahead and got 21gr and 27gr H&N in .217. Some posts mentioned .218 feeling a bit "tight". I'm hoping to get to the range in a few days to test it out.

Out of 6 liners it was 50/50 wether they liked the 217 or the 218 the most.

My 70cm slug-a liner them both well but shines with the 25gr 217 and my 60cm Superior Heavy liner very well with the 27gr 218.

The fatter one does loose some speed because of the higher friction but I prefer accuracy over speed any day.
