20GRAM VRS 12 GRAM CO CARTRIDGE

I currently have a Crosman 2240 carbine that takes a 12 gram CO2 cartridge.. Does anyone know if a 20 gram CO2 will fir inside the gun and function correctly?

The 20g (I've always heard them referred to as 19g?) carts are longer and larger in diameter.
