2021... Where are we going with Airguns?

I hope more forward position, side-lever cocking bullpups will be coming out from established makers with the ability to change which side the lever operates from by the user.

I would also like to see long gun air rifles come in at shorter OAL. I don’t particularly care for air rifles longer than 40” with moderator installed. I wish manufacturers made their factory installed shrouds to keep the report down to moderator installed levels WITHOUT having to add a moderator.

Keep wood and laminate stock options available to purchasers. Also drop makers logos being branded into the stocks. Just leave the label for the action and let the beauty of the shape and material of the stock be what shows.

All pcp repeaters should come with a minimum of TWO magazines AND a single shot tray with the gun and a fill probe(if required) that hooks up to QD Foster instead of a thread on. Many of us have more than one pcp and more than one way (connector) they need to be filled. I hate having to spend additional $$ to get a quick connect fill probe to charge my gun with air.

Of course I would like to see the “high end” of pcp pricing come down to more of a “working mans” price point. The price ceiling seems to keep riSING🎈🎈🎈

I guess this is my “wish list” or my “gripe list”. Ha ha!

Unfortunately, with an incoming Harris/Biden administration. I see for 2021 and beyond, an attack on airguns, and of course on powder burners. Especially anything semi automatic. I forsee a push to classify airguns as real firearms. Just like they are here in New Jersey. That would mean an end to buying an airgun and having it delivered to your house. I would not be surprised that all ldc, moderators, silencers, etc. be classified as tax stamp items, or outright banned. As well as sound moderating barrel shrouds. I can even see the purchase of airguns and ammo online be banned. This may not all happen in 2021. But it will get started.

That is not going to happen.

It will confirmed on the 6th.

As a boy, the Daisy red riders, were the #1 wish list item, .177 BBs #1 ammo. I think it is a great time to be into this hobby, We have so much to be excited about, There are some really nice options, not only in guns, The ammo choices, better ballistics , further shooting distances unheard of . With these advancements and popularity , comes regulations, I think that we will see more limitations, rules. age requirements. When the semi auto, came to air guns, there was and is a real concern from the powers that be. England almost banned the sig line of semi autos, but instead, regulated / mandated ,a change to the trigger operation and made it into a multi shot, not semi auto for their country. Here in the usa, we like our guns, and if we want to continue to have the 2nd amendment , we have to be more involved in the future laws and the advancement of the technology . In this day of lack of trust in our leadership, and system, no partisan party exclusion in our concerns here, it is more important then ever!! Now for what I would like to see in the future . advancement in fill sources for pcp not only in tech. but price, It's way too expensive for tanks, hand pumps, compressors, and other filling sources, that are necessary to use. higher quality o rings, and parts for repairs, better warranties from manufacturers, Ammo advancement like slugs , better ballistics from pellets. less tuning more shooting!

As far as where the industry is headed-it will go where the buying public takes it. Companies like FX, Daystate and a few more are pushing the boundaries to see what peeks the interests of the buying public but in the end the folks with the open wallets dictate what stays and what doesn't.

Airguns are ALREADY regulated by law in the USA. They are NOT firearms but are still subject to laws and regulations in the books and depending on usage (hunting, pesting, etc.). I don’t understand the “hair pulling” and “teeth gnashing” over laws and regulations that already exist. That they can be more onerous? Yeah maybe? So be vigilant and pro active, not alarmist.

Having already dealt with some of this I can tell you that folks that are in charge of enforcing the laws don't know a damn thing about airguns and a blanket gets thrown over all guns and gun ownership. Until someone does something stupid with an airgun and it gets attention on a national level airguns will still somewhat fly under the radar like it has for a lot of years. Industry has changed tremendously from when I first go into it though.

Not really worried about the upcoming administration-not a chicken little about anything but rather look back into history and stay the course. History is a hard thing to change.

I disagree with Steve Corcoran. I don't recall anybody doing anything stupid in New Jersey to prompt legislation that made airguns considered real firearms? But it's law. Heck, slingshots are illegal here. Can't buy one. Can't own or possess one. I never heard of the great slingshot massacre of New Jersey?

Regarding history is hard to change. I beg to differ. With anti gun Democrats in control of both houses and the presidency, if they cheat and win in Georgia today. All it will take is a bill to be introduced in the house, which will pass. Then passed in the Senate. Which it will if the Democrats get rid of the filibuster. Then it goes to Dementia Joe's desk. Where he will sign it. History has no bearing on future.

Also. Regarding those who enforce the laws know little about airguns. So what? They will gladly goose step and enforce whatever laws are passed. As long as that paycheck keeps coming in.

I don't know where the evolution of air rifles will go this year, but share the concern of a lot of other folks here. The political environment isn't anything I think we have ever seen.

Pellets are sold out in many places and scarce to expensive unless one wants to shop around, and more so than before. Coincidence? Will it pass? Dunno, but not expecting a surplus of loaded ammo or even components. Pellets could well follow.

Troubled times.

"Lots" of pellets and what I'm in the market for aren't the same. I know of an on line store, very established, that still has a decent assortment of center fire, you're going to pay up to $100 for a 50 round count box of ammo, and better double check they don't up the price on you in the cart, but they have it in stock. I doubt the company you used for an example does that sort of thing, but they are out there.

I'm new to the caliber of lead I'm looking at, and have noticed that many vendors are kinda pricey in 25 cal and don't get me started on 45. Anyway, it could just be the after Christmas sell down, or could have to do with the current environment, or a combination. I got what I could live with, at the "normal" pricing last night. Just saying to be aware that some ore running low and I don't know if it is a normal "time of year" thing.

I hope these stay stable.

Right now it's easier to find Bigfoot than it is to find 9mm and 5.56 that isn't 3-4 times the normal price.

Yep. Someone on another site posted up some Grendel for only double the price 18 months ago. That was a genuine compliment for the seller. 9MM is going for 70+ cents per round. Crazy, but supply and demand is a real thing.

Wow! Incredible prices... I pretty much stopped shooting my powder burners after the NYS unsafe SAFE Act was passed in the middle of the night. So I’m well stocked from NOT shooting firearms for a few years.🙀

But to get back to the OP I’m headed towards lower power PCPs. And to the dairy this weekend...

I've seen 1000 rd cases of FMJ 9mm actually selling for $700-800 on Gunbroker.

Save your real ammo. Not talking about pellets. Unfortunately we may need it.

Any takers on two regulators showing up in an entry level PCP (someone imitating the FX Maverick)? Maybe an Avenger II - the slug strikes back?

I also would like to see better PCP air source prices (although booster pumps are pretty reasonable when compared to full-on HP pumps). +1 for cheaper (safe, of course) carbon fiber fill tanks.

What about a resurgence in youth airgun shooting sports in the US (outside of big citys)? Does/would industry support small-town teams for 10m or biathlon (run then shoot) sports?
