2018 winding down ,Lets all tell our new favorite brand of guns

OK another year coming to an end , and 2018 many advancements to PCP guns and we all have been involved with target shooting , hunting and , pesting . so I would to have this Thread to tell the forum hat our Best gun for 2018 is ,I kno for me personally I have 2 brands I have made my go to guns and my others are not on active duty no more ok let hear hat you guys think and PLEASE TELL US WHY

Having experienced no small amount of "issues" with regulated guns, when I discovered the unregulated Brocock Bantam HiLites were being replaced by regulated models (unavailable with wooden stocks), then found the unregulated HiLite beech ON SALE, I sold other guns to fund the purchase of a .22 caliber. That it uses the Daystate 'Slingshot' hammer/valve system seemed a nice bonus, that my testing proved quite an understatement!

Besides the Slingshot system, this thing has all the other features that ring my bell LOUDLY- semi-bullpup carbine design, completely free-floated barrel attached solidly to a rigid receiver, carbon-fiber bottle and 240 BAR charge pressure for huge air capacity, all-metal magazine of logical design and SIMPLE, dependable function, and a non-finicky Walther barrel. So what do all these features get me?

18.1 grain JSB, 230 BAR* charge, 60 shot powerband- Low= 835, Hi= 862, ES= 27, SD= 4, Average= 852 FPS, 29.0 foot-pounds.

*An optimum charge pressure of 235 BAR on the gun gauge returns 65 consistent shots!

10/4/2018- Six consecutive 5-shot groups at 50 yards with 16gr. AA averaged .50” c-t-c.

Oh... almost forgot. She's friggin' gorgeous!

I'll go after you, what are those two brands and why?

Hatsan flash in .22 is amazingly accurate for its price point. 24 good shots in the sweet spot and putting out over 30 ft lbs. w/ jsb 18's. Dead on accurate with less than half inch groups @ 50. For the budget minded buyer at the entry level this is simply amazing! Its light for field carry and with a donnyfl sumo its quiet enough the squirrels dont even budge if you happen to miss (which isnt very often!). I took an english sparrow the other day out past 75 yards, it just continues to impress me for the price! I did also order a gauntlet .177 i plan to modify that's on its way currently but that can be my go to for 2019 potentially...

OK Roger V53

LOL ok ok well I have had all the brands made , and I have to say all brands have greatly improved now , But Me personally , I fell in love with ED-GUN for 1 simple reason . ROBUST AND FOR ME I NEED ROBUST I use my guns very hard and they hold up to everything I can throw at them and remain working . , They remind me of a SWFA SCOPE I can use it as a hammer and it still holds zero

ok second brand which is juSt better then others for me was Taipan veteran , and mainly the trigger it i an engineered like a tank and the best trigger I felt in my Life on a PCP gun .

I DID TRY FX IMPACT BROKE THEM ALL, for me nope , I killed them quick one I dropped like on a tree and transfer tube broke geeze , I broke stem , valves sears hammers cocking levers , I felt I needed to stock an inventory to use them lol , Untill I met EDgun and never looked back

While i like like airarms and others they just dont have the FPE for slugs I like to shoot . Hatsan has power but is too heavy for me , airforce has power again , too long with a 32 inch barrel but damn accurate out to 300yds ,

SO FOR 22 25 ND 30 CAL(.300) EDGUN WINS

FOR 22 CAL LOW POWER GUN TAIPAN VETERAN WINS

LOU

Well sir I've owned several PCPs and a few springers over the decades, all outstanding guns. In my old age I don't hunt much but still enjoy shooting almost daily in my backyard.

I still will not tolerate a gun that wont stack pellets in the same hole over and over, it took some time but I found one that's a keeper.

Feinwerkbau 603jr I like boring accuracy and this one delivers.

The other one is my Walther LGV Master Pro, the only springer I have ever been able to consistently shoot 1/4 in groups with at 25 yards and hit POA on the first shot without warmup.

I can't leave out my HW35 if I do hunt that's the gun I grab, top gun in the trio of Germans.

A few new this year just for curiosities sake, but my all time favorites are still Kalibrgun. Then there's the Thomas that's just in a league of it's own! LOL

2014 .25 Kalibrgun Cricket carbine # 1 fav. .22 FX400 followed in 2nd place

2015 .25 Kalibrgun Cricket carbine tied with .177 Kalibrgun Cricket Carbine for #1 spot.... Traded FX 400 for .22 Cricket carbine for 2nd place

2016 .177 Kalibrgun Cricket Carbine #1 until I got the Thomas FT rifle and then purchased a few bull pups out of curiosity by end of the year

2017 .177 Thomas FT #1 then toss up between .22 Kalibrgun Cricket pup and Kalibrgun Colibri for the #2 spot

2018 .177 Thomas FT still #1...Got the .22 Kalibrgun Cricket pup power tuned (45 fpe) and it's edged out the Colibri for the #2 spot for now

New toys this month but no where near favorite .22 Gamo Urban, .177 FX Logun Solo, and a Sig Sauer MPX on it's way

Maybe I need to call this Camp Kalibrgun????? LOL

But on a twist, I'm eyeing the Evanix Air Speed from Jefferson State really hard for 2019.

Some of you guys cycle your air guns more than the magazines they come equipped with! Haha. My one and only highly customized marauder has been and likely always will be my go to / favorite...but it has nothing to do with brand...so that aside my favorite brand from this year are all the brands with sub 300$ pcp's hitting the market, which have been quite a few. Kudos to them to shifting things up!

I got into PCP airguns this year, coming from a powder burner background. I have lot's of custom powder burner long range rifles

My friend who's a big airgunner convinced me to get a Brocock Bantam in .25. Bought it for shooting out the backyard to 200+ yards. It's a decent gun, shoots well enough out to 200 yards, mediocre trigger, decent ergonomics, really poor round count (15 shots). My airgun buddy has a few Edguns, Brococks and even more FX rifles (among other brands) - I've had the opportunity to play with a lot of different airguns through him. The FX rifles were a notch above the Brocock's, and made me re-evaluate what I wanted in an airgun.

Debating between the Taipan Veteran and the FX Wildcat (briefly flirted with the idea of an EdGun as well, but heavy non-adjustable trigger and high price for the feature set was a deal breaker), I went with the Taipan Veteran. It's better than the FX (and obviously the Bantam) in pretty much every way. Trigger is much better, build quality is better, more tuneability, etc... This rifle absolutely hammers the steel targets I have in my range out to 200 yards. I was worried that the .22 would be trickier to shoot at distance than the .25 Bantam, but in all actuality it shoots even better. Going to be trying it out to ~300 yards soon.

I can't think of an airgun that has the same features and build quality as the Taipan Veteran at a similar price range. I would love to try a Daystate Redwolf, but can't justify the price. I'm willing to bet the Taipan is 90% of the gun the Redwolf is for 50% of the price.
