1st time shooting USARB targets

I’m trying to figure out a way to get a “club” together to start shooting USARB matches but had yet to actually shoot the targets to see how it was. I found a pdf of a left and right side WRABF 25 meter target that I figure is close enough to get a taste.

I dipped my toe in by setting up an informal lane in the shop at work after everyone had gone home yesterday, shooting off bags on one of our lunch tables.

I think it’s really fun. 25 yards/meters (indoor/outdoor) isn’t too intimidating to sit down to and is (theoretically) easier to find space for than long range 100 yd and up or even 50 yard/meter targets. I need to get more information about what constitutes a “club” officially, I’m betting it’s more than just one person hoping someone will shoot with them occasionally!

My hope is to find enough people interested in getting together to practice once in a while and every now and again have an official match. Until then I think I’ll print up some more practice targets and volunteer to close up the shop a little more!

You're my boy Blue!! Lol, from Oldschool.

I'm in PA or I'd shoot with you.

Come to PA! You can just shoot the targets and share them online. Lots of guys used to do "postal matches" and mail them to a appointed scoring judge. I mainly shoot long range onto the fill mountains but I have copies of USARB targets that Paul B. was nice enough to send me years ago.

the N50 BR League and it sounds like it might fill the void

I love the enthusiasm!

I enjoy longer ranges too but I’m looking at the shorter 25 yard/meter formats for a couple of reasons:

1. I’m in a metropolitan area and it’s tough to find legal/safe/reliable shooting locations and they get harder to find the farther you want to shoot.

2. Shorter distances are less intimidating to most shooters, more amenable to lower priced airguns so you don’t need an expensive setup to join in, and less likely to scare off participants because they don’t think they will do well enough to have fun shooting longer distances.

I hear you. I lived in metropolitan / suburban areas a good chunk of my life. Last 'burb I lived in had an ordinance against "anything that could be used with any projectile" so even a slingshot was illegal. Boy did that suck. But now that we have this farm I'm in shooter's heaven.

Have you checked out the competitions on the "other" forum? They have a number of shorter range competitions that are pretty active. I'm really not that interested in anything less than 50 yds because I don't have a .177 and the larger caliber puts me at a bit of a disadvantage. Plus, the AO on my scope won't go closer than 50 yds. Plus I just enjoy long range shooting.
