1st Post, New Here

Hello all,

I’ve found a new way to express my passion for shooting and marksmanship through air guns, so I’m happy to be here amongst you experts, mentors, enthusiasts, and fellow new members.

I’ve lurked before joining and look forward to upgrading my arsenal with the help and knowledge of the members here.

Other than some Gamo break-barrels, I have a Hatsan Jet (not too happy with) with a Buck Rail modulator and I have a Donny FL Shogun on the way.

These days, I’m interested in backyard shooting and pest control as stealthy as possible.

Thanks for having me.

Hello and welcome Airgun Nation! I hope you enjoy hour stay. We have everyone from neophytes to experts, business owners and gun smiths around here.

Stealthy shooting is easy to accomplish. Stay under 12 fpe and the pellet hitting the target will make more noise than the rifle.

Like @Ratzy said, what type of air rifle / carbine / pistol are you looking for?

The HW50 would be the perfect choice but I am Weihrauch biased.

Have fun!

Welcome to the best A G N

what state do you live in , might be members near to shoot with ? ( near is a relative mileage thing amongst us ) to me near is a 4 hour drive .

What caliber are you looking for?
What type, long gun, bullpup, carbine etc.
What price range, generally just the max.
New/used
Hello,
Preferably a carbine or smaller in 22 or 25. Looking at spending $1k or less. I already have the glass I want to use for now.

Philosophy of use:

Rugged yet accurate

Modular would be a plus

Regulated

Primary use would be pest control within 30 yds, I’d walk it out beyond that limit for recreation

Will accept Donny FL 1/2-20 with or without adapter

I don’t mind a bit of tinkering but don’t prefer it for this use case (I am mechanically inclined, experienced with weapon maintenance, repair and basic gunsmithing)

No preference on used or new, I am looking for value and quality for the money.

Thanks!

Welcome , always looking for new folks to "turn to the dark side" ! We all need the specifics of your tasks at hand & armaments to compare notes .
Hi,
Right now I have a Hatsan Jet 1 with a scope. I have buyer’s remorse on the Hatsan. I think it is ok for plinking but I’m on the hunt for something a bit more robust.

Welcome. There's lots of useful information here. Plenty of people who can point you in the right direction getting started. The best way is to ask specific questions. If you are looking to purchase equipment like a compressor and a gun include your budget, or what you intend on shooting. There may be local people willing to shoot with you and show you different options. I personally didn't utilize this site soon enough and I have bought things I didn't need to buy.

I suggest looking at the Umarex Notos. It ticks a lot of boxes and has quite a few fans here at AGN. This would get you down the rabbit hole and keep you under $1000.

A good hand pump or small compressor can be used to fill the Notos, same as the Jet.

The BRK line also has some nice carbines but they get pricey very quickly.

.22 caliber is the way to go. .22 is probably the most common caliber for airguns. Weights go from 11 grains all the way 34 grains.

I recommend purchasing good pellets, JSB / AA / FX are all made in the same factory. Find the magic pellet and then stock up on them.

Youtube is your friend, watch some videos before you make any purchases!

Have fun!

Notos is good.
Niksan Elf bullpup.
Barra 250z (bit long for your requirements)
Reximex Throne 2
Snowpeak p35x
AEA Challenger Bullpup
Air Venturi Avenge-X Bullpup

The Avenge-X is the one that hits all your requirements

PS, I look forward to any pointers and suggestions you wish to offer.
