I would go alot cheaper with a notos and a Chinese pump to start with a super low quiet tune until all were comfortable for less than 350.00 bucks. Then once the waters were clear move up from there haha. you could shoot that thing in the house if you wanted too haha.

I don't know the situation in TN but in SC there are public ranges. You should be able to google up some information. I would suspect they exist. In SC they have Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and some of them have public ranges that are free. There is also a federally managed range where you're supposed to put $5 in an envelope in a box when you use it. Or you can buy a yearly pass. I used to belong to a private club with better facilities here and it wasn't very costly. But I let the membership lapse in the confusion when my wife died and have not bothered to get it back. It bothers me that I am pretty sure they are racist and with the public ranges available I just haven't bothered. The limit in my yard is 35 yards so for longer ranges I have to visit a range.

Lastly, there is a page on GTA where they list shoots by state. That can be another way to have a place to shoot at least occasionally normally for free. Plus some other airgunners to shoot with.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I do have some shooting areas but I have to pack up and go. I currently tune in my garage and have permission at my buddy's house. Starting a new job tomorrow and it's on a good sized spread in the country. Think I'm gonna like my new job!!!!! Hopefully you get the legalities figured out and can utilize your 50' range. I used to tune and shoot downstairs at a 13 yard range all the time. Nice place to set up scopes too.

I also live in a populated area in the woods where all properties are about 3000 m2 and I shoot in my garden, we are only allowed to shoot .177 in such place, for .22 and bigger we need to go the the shooting range or where we are alowed to hunt, I use a pavement tile placed in 45 degr angle to catch the slugs and pellets, when the pavement tile is new and fresh it makes very little noise, but over time when the slugs/pellets has digged holes into the pavement tile, the impact angle is not always 45 degr and the hollow point slugs will make some noise

I used.to be able to shoot in my current backyard; asked the uniforms and they said they didn't care. Until the neighbor got tiffy about the noise of pellets slapping spinners constantly/other things(jerk neighbors unfortunately).
I've seen/heard lots of goodness about daystate though 🎩🤙

#1 ask your neighbors is they belong to the NRA, FPC, 2ND AMENDMENT FOUNDATION etc. Or simply go and ask if they know of any local ranges. If the answer is yes then you will be good to go, if they have one of those 'We Believe" signs, beware. The MOST you will get away with is a .25, smaller is better. Shoot in a foam lined box to muffle as much sound as you can or plant a heck of a lot of bushes. I'm in the long state on the left coast in a Residental area, I shoot in my back yard, I have a street on the other side of my tall fence with a lot of bushes, people walking there all the time lots of kids, nobody has ever said "what was that." YMMV. Oh, even a somewhat quiet gun will make some noise and the pellets hitting a target most definitely will. A neighbor was 80+ yards away and heard the gun and the pellet hitting the paper, he knows I shoot so he's cool.

I don’t/won’t shoot In my yard. Not even worth asking the neighbors. I am not comfortable with it so their opinions are a moot point.
I am fortunate to have good public land access that shooting is allowed on 15 minutes from my house. I can shoot close or as far as my imagination is willing to go.
Is it worth it? Absolutely for me it is. It should work for you as long as you do not have a very long drive to a place to shoot.
