1st Half of Squirrel Season 2021-2022 Concludes

Squirrel season has concluded in my area until spring. It’s been an interesting first season for me. I think I’ve created some educated squirrels in a couple of my hunting areas. But I have reserved some tricks for those who think they got wise to my tactics. Yesterday evening was the last day and I chose a spot that yielded very little activity. I did see one or two (it’s hard to tell if it’s the same one sometimes). When a shot presented finally itself I took it, a single shot from about 25-30 yards and missed. It was at sunset and the squirrel ran around to the other side of the trunk. I tried to wait it out but, it simply got too dark and I didn’t see it again.

Thanks to all the other squirrel hunters who posted, posted videos, recipes, PMed me, responded to my messages, and spoke with me via phone. I’ve learned quite a bit from some of you and I appreciate it. I bagged around 20 in the first half of the season. The second half ought to be even more enjoyable. Today the weather was to be nicer than yesterday. It was sunny, warm, and I could hear nutters doing nutter things but I had to leave them be. No problem, but when the spring comes it’s on again…
